Anigbogu was recalled from the G-League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants on Wednesday.
Anigbogu will likely continue to ride the pine for the Pacers, as the team isn't dealing with any frontcourt injuries and he's appeared in just 10 games with the team, totaling 13 points, nine rebounds, three blocks and a steal in 28 minutes. That said, he held a significant role in the G-League, where he's averaged 8.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 1.8 blocks across 24.5 minutes.
Anigbogu finished with 11 points (5-9 FG, 1-2 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist and one block across 35 minutes for the G League's Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the team's 117-105 loss to the Texas Legends on Wednesday.
It was the rookie center's first career double-double in his 18 appearances with Fort Wayne. With the Pacers not earmarking the 19-year-old for a spot in their rotation this season, Anigbogu is expected to continue logging significant minutes in the G League until further notice. The 6-foot-10, 250-pound center possesses strong athleticism and size, but he has yet to harness his physical gifts and turn into consistent production at the G League level.
A non-rotation player for the NBA squad during his rookie season, Anigbogu will join the G League team for its game Thursday against the Wisconsin Herd and will likely pick up major minutes. Anigbogu could rejoin the Pacers ahead of Friday's game against the Hornets, but don't expect him to see meaningful run unless a slew of Indiana big men succumb to injuries.
Anigbogu was assigned to the G-League on Saturday.
The rookie out of UCLA has some intrigue as a long-term prospect, but he hasn't looked NBA-ready this season and has only appeared sparingly in six games for the Pacers. Expect the 19-year-old to continue to shuttle between the NBA and the G-League throughout the season.
