Boris Diaw: Announces retirement
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw announced his retirement from basketball Thursday, reports.

Diaw spent 14 seasons in the NBA, playing for the likes of the Hawks, Suns, Hornets, Spurs and Jazz. He became an NBA champion with San Antonio in 2014 and also had a decorated career overseas which included a French League Player's MVP in 2003. He'll finish his NBA journey playing in 1,064 games, while boasting averages of 8.6 points, 4.4 rebounds and 3.5 assists across 27.0 minutes.

Boris Diaw: Signs with French team
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw signed a contract Thursday with Paris-Levallois of the French Pro A League, Sportando reports.

The 35-year-old veteran has played 13 seasons in the NBA, but struggled to field interest this offseason after averaging 4.6 points, 2.2 rebounds and 2.3 assists across 17.6 minutes with the Jazz during the 2017-18 campaign. The French native will head home for the upcoming season, though that doesn't rule out the possibility of a potential return to the NBA at some point considering the report didn't include whether or not the contract had an opt-out clause.

Boris Diaw: To be waived by Jazz
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw is expected to be waived by the Jazz, Tim MacMahon of reports.

With the signings of both Jonas Jerebko and Epke Udoh on top of drafting Tony Bradley in the first round, it looks as though the Jazz are moving in a different, slightly younger direction in the frontcourt. Diaw, however, could still be a valuable piece to a team given his ability to pass and stretch the floor. Don't expect the frenchman to be a free agent for much longer after officially getting waived.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Diaw to start Game 3
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will get the start in Game 3, Chris Haynes of ESPN reports.

Diaw was moved to the bench for Game 1 in favor of Joe Johnson for a smaller lineup, but after back-to-back losses, the Jazz have seemed to revert back to the original lineup. Diaw has averaged fewer than five points per game in nearly 18 minutes of action this season.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Will move to bench for Game 1
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will move to the bench for Tuesday's Game 1 against the Warriors.

The Jazz are opting to go with a smaller lineup Tuesday, which features Joe Johnson in the frontcourt instead of Diaw. That pushes Diaw to the second unit and considering he's averaged just 18.1 minutes over seven playoff games so far, he likely won't be a viable DFS option Tuesday with the demotion.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Puts up 10 points in 14 minutes Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw scored 10 points (4-6 FG, 2-2 3Pt) and added three assists across 14 minutes Tuesday in a 96-92 win over the Clippers in Game 5 of the series.

With Rudy Gobert (knee) back in action for the last two games, the Jazz have decreased their reliance on Diaw, who had seen 20-plus minutes in the first three contests of the series. Diaw is still starting at power forward, but the production he offered in Game 5 is probably going to be his ceiling most nights unless he sees his playing time trend upward again.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Modest contributions despite Gobert injury
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw totaled seven points (3-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt), six assists and four rebounds over 23 minutes during Saturday's 97-95 win over the Clippers in Game 1 of the Western Conference first-round playoffs.

The veteran forward typically saw minutes in the teens during the regular season, but Saturday's contest afforded him a slight uptick in opportunity. That was presumably due in large part to Rudy Gobert's knee injury on the first play, which sidelined him for the duration of the contest. Diaw was particularly effective as a ball distributor, with his assist total his highest since Jan. 16 against the Suns. Diaw could see a similar minutes total in Tuesday's Game 2 if Gobert is unavailable.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Modestly productive in Saturday start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw drew another start at power forward in Saturday's 101-86 loss to the Trail Blazers, posting four points (2-3 FG), five rebounds and three assists over 18 minutes.

Diaw continues to run with the first unit ahead of Derrick Favors. The veteran had been held scoreless over the previous two games but poured in 19 points against his former Spurs teammates last Sunday. His minutes remain capped at around the 20-minute mark, but coach Quin Snyder appears intent on keeping Diaw with the starting five for the time being.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Starting Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will get the start Saturday against the Clippers.

The Jazz have tried a few different options in the absence of Derrick Favors (knee), including going small with Joe Johnson starting alongside Gordon Hayward, but coach Quin Snyder will pivot to a bigger lineup to match up against the Clippers' sizable frontcourt. It will mark the second straight start for Diaw, who scored five points and grabbed one rebound in Wednesday's win over New York.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Will start Wednesday vs. Knicks
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will start at power forward Wednesday against the Knicks, Jazz radio announcer David Locke reports.

Diaw, who has started 22 games so far this season, will join the starting rotation Wednesday night, sending Joe Johnson to the bench and bumping Gordon Hayward to small forward. As a starter the veteran has averaged 4.3 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.5 assists in just over 21 minutes a contest.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Will return to bench role Wednesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will return to the bench for Wednesday's game against the Pistons, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake Tribune reports.

Since the injury to Derrick Favors (knee), the Jazz have been moving between a bigger and smaller lineup, with Joe Johnson and Diaw alternating at the power forward position. The Jazz have opted to go with a smaller lineup Wednesday, which sends Diaw back to the bench in favor of Johnson. Diaw's demotion will likely come with a loss in playing time and considering he wasn't posting fantasy numbers even when working with the top unit, he'll likely remain off the fantasy radar in the majority of leagues.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Will start Monday's contest
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will start Monday's game against the Clippers.

Diaw will draw the start with Derrick Favors still sidelined. The Jazz initially opted to go with a relatively small lineup after Favors sustained his knee injury, but it looks like the team may be abandoning that strategy by starting Diaw on Monday. The 34-year-old hasn't allocated many minutes as of late, so it's unlikely that he'll play the majority of the game even though he'll start. If the Jazz opt to go small at some point during the game, both Joe Johnson and Joe Ingles could be in line to receive extensive minutes off the bench.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Goes scoreless while making second straight start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw failed to score (0-2 FG) and contributed one assist and one rebound across 11 minutes in a 105-98 win over the Hornets on Saturday.

Though Derrick Favors (undisclosed) was able to return to action Saturday, he was limited to a 10-minute role off the bench, affording Diaw his second start in a row. Unfortunately for Diaw, he was unable to take advantage, as the Jazz were a team-worst minus-18 when he was on the court, prompting coach Quin Snyder to go with more smaller lineups. Favors is likely to see his playing time pick up and move back into a starting role before long, effectively closing the door on Diaw emerging as a fantasy-relevant option in most leagues.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Will start Wednesday vs. Bucks
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will start at power forward for Wednesday's game versus the Bucks, Kareem Copeland of the Associated Press reports.

Diaw will replace Trey Lyles in the starting lineup. Lyles started for the injured Derrick Favors in the previous game. If Favors is forced to miss any additional time the team will likely keep making their starting power forward decision based on matchups.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Scores 12 points Monday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw contributed 12 points (6-10 FG, 0-2 3Pt), six assists and three rebounds in 22 minutes during Monday's 106-101 win over the Suns.

Diaw shot 75 percent inside the arc on his way to his seventh double-digit scoring performance of the season. The 34-year-old big man also led the team in assists. Diaw is averaging 4.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 18.7 minutes in his 16th season.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Produces 10 points in return to bench
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw posted 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two assists and one steal across 23 minutes during a 102-100 win against the Lakers on Tuesday.

Diaw returned to the bench as Derrick Favors was reinserted into the starting lineup, but his minutes weren't affected much. He hit two-three pointers in a game for the second time this year but failed to get a single rebound for the first time in December.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: To come off bench Tuesday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will come off the bench during Tuesday's game with the Lakers.

Diaw will return to the bench due to Derrick Favors getting back in the starting lineup for the Jazz, and thus, taking a slight dip in production. Diaw is averaging 4.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in 21.2 minutes per game.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Tallies season highs in points, assists
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw notched 13 points (5-11 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), six assists and four rebounds across 33 minutes in Tuesday's 112-105 win over the Suns.

Diaw has hit double digits in the scoring column for two games in a row, likely solidified his spot in the starting lineup over Trey Lyles until further notice while Derrick Favors (knee) is out. While the point and assist totals were season highs for Diaw, this probably represents the peak production to expect from him, as the 34-year-old isn't a major part of the Jazz attack.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Plays 29 minutes in second straight start
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw produced seven points (3-3 FG, 1-1 3Pt), five assists, two rebounds and two steals across 29 minutes in Monday's 112-103 win over the Timberwolves.

The 29 minutes were Diaw's most since the season opener against the Trail Blazers, a game he also started in place of Derrick Favors (knee). With Favors out until further notice after being diagnosed with a bone bruise in the same left knee that troubled him earlier this season, Diaw has taken back starting duties at power forward in the last two games, but has averaged only 4.5 points, 4.0 assists, 2.5 rebounds and 1.0 steal in 24.0 minutes per game. He and Trey Lyles will continue to split the playing time at the position for the duration of Favors' absence, with Lyles offering the greater fantasy upside of the two.

Jazz's Boris Diaw: Starting Friday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Diaw will start at power forward in Friday's matchup with the Hawks, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.

Diaw is drawing the start while Derrick Favors (knee) remains sidelined. Trey Lyles had been starting while Diaw saw a small role off the bench, but Diaw figures to see a much larger role as long as he can remain in the starting five.
