Top Hawks News

  • Hawks' Justin Anderson: Still out Saturday

Anderson (leg) is out Saturday against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of Locked On Hawks reports.

Anderson is still in recovery from tibial stress syndrome. His next chance to take the floor arrives Monday against the Clippers.

  • Hawks' Taurean Prince: Doubtful Saturday vs. Pacers

Prince (Achilles) is doubtful Saturday against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of Locked On Hawks reports.

Prince missed Thursday's blowout loss to the Nuggets due to right Achilles soreness, which appears likely to keep him out Saturday as well. Assuming that's the case, DeAndre' Bembry is a strong candidate to start for a second straight contest.

  • Hawks' John Collins: Probable for Saturday

Collins (ankle) is listed as probable for Saturday's game against the Pacers, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

After an absence that exceeded one month, Collins is finally in line to make his regular season debut for the Hawks. Collins is coming off an impressive rookie campaign where he averaged 10.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while shooting 57.6 percent from the field, and he should have plenty of opportunities this season to build on that. If deemed healthy enough, Collins will likely be immediately thrust into the starting lineup, which will send rookie Omari Spellman back to a role off the bench.

  • Hawks' Alex Len: Probable Saturday vs. Pacers

Len (ankle) is probable Saturday against the Pacers, Brad Rowland of Locked On Hawks reports.

Len played only 13 minutes during Thursday's loss to the Nuggets while dealing with ankle pain, though the game became a blowout quickly. More information on his status should arrive following Friday's morning shootaround, but it would be surprising if he ends up sidelined.

  • Hawks' Kevin Huerter: Plays team-high 28 minutes Thursday

Huerter tallied 10 points (4-10 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 0-1 FT), three rebounds, one assist, and one steal in 28 minutes during Thursday's 138-93 loss to Denver.

Huerter played more minutes than any other Hawks player Thursday, finishing with 10 points in 28 minutes. While the production is certainly nothing to write home about, the minutes are encouraging. He has no value in anything other than deeper formats at this stage but as the season progresses, the coaching staff may want to see what they have in the rookie out of Maryland. Keep an eye on the situation moving forward in case he manages to work his way into the starting lineup.

  • Hawks' Trae Young: Night to forget Thursday

Young totaled just six points (2-11 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five assists, two rebounds, and one steal in 26 minutes during Thursday's 138-93 loss to Denver.

Young had a game to forget Thursday, hitting just 2-of-11 from the field including 0-of-7 from beyond the arc. Games like this are sure to occur for the rookie point-guard and those with him on their roster simply have to take a deep breath and move on. He will look to bounce back in a matchup with the Pacers on Saturday.

  • Hawks' Omari Spellman: Double-doubles in loss Thursday

Spellman managed 10 points (4-15 FG, 0-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), 10 rebounds, three assists, three steals, and one block in 26 minutes during Thursday's 138-93 loss to the Nuggets.

Spellman recorded his third double-double across his last five games Thursday, also leading the team with 15 shot attempts. Taurean Prince (Achilles) was out of this one which allowed other players to get additional looks on the offensive end. Spellman, although inefficient, took full advantage with another solid performance. John Collins (ankle) is getting closer to a return which is almost certainly going to take some of the shine off of Spellman. That being said, he has likely done enough to earn himself a regular spot in the rotation.

  • Hawks' Jeremy Lin: Strong play continues Thursday

Lin finished with 16 points (4-10 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 5-7 FT), five rebounds, and five assists in 25 minutes during Thursday's 138-93 loss to the Nuggets.

Lin came off the bench to record a team-high 16 points Thursday, scoring in double-digits for the third time in his last four games. After a very slow start to the season, Lin is starting to turn things around and moving into standard league consideration in the process. His minutes look to be set at around the mid-twenties which does limit his ceiling. That being said, he has the ability to rack up the stats during his time on the floor and is worth a look if you are in need of some assists and threes.

  • Hawks' DeAndre' Bembry: Draws spot start in Denver

Bembry will start at small forward Thursday against the Nuggets.

Bembry will get a chance to enter the starting five with Taurean Prince out with an Achilles injury. Bembry has put up 8.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists over 24 minutes per game and should continue to benefit from an increased role until Prince returns to health.

  • Hawks' Alex Len: Will play Thursday

Len (ankle) is available for Thursday's game against Denver, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.

Len was listed as questionable on Atlanta's injury report with a sprained left ankle, but he'll be good to go and is starting at center. Through 14 games this season, he's averaging 10.6 points, 5.6 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 22.4 minutes per contest, but could see more run with both Dewayne Dedmon (personal) and John Collins (ankle) ruled out.

  • Hawks' Taurean Prince: Out Thursday with Achilles pain

Prince is out for Thursday's game against the Nuggets due to right Achilles pain, Chris Kirschner of The Athletic reports.

Prince played a season-high 39 minutes against the Warriors on Tuesday and has come away with some Achilles pain. In his stead, DeAndre' Bembry and Kevin Huerter are candidates to see expanded roles.

  • Hawks' John Collins: Won't play Thursday

Collins (ankle) is out Thursday against the Nuggets, Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Collins was deemed doubtful for the contest, so it's not a surprise that he'll remain sidelined. Still, his status implied he's making tangible progress in his recovery. His next chance to take the floor arrives Saturday against the Pacers.

  • Hawks' Alex Len: Questionable Thursday vs. Nuggets

Len is questionable for Thursday's game against the Nuggets due to a sprained left ankle, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site reports.

Len likely picked up the injury during Tuesday's game against the Warriors, when he posted 14 points, seven rebounds and one assist in 32 minutes. More information on his status should arrive following morning shootaround. With Dewayne Dedmon (personal) ruled out, the Hawks would be thin at center if Len was unavailable as well.

  • Hawks' Justin Anderson: Out again Thursday

Anderson (leg) has been ruled out for Thursday's game against the Nuggets, Kevin Chouinard of the Hawks' official site

It's more of the same for Anderson, who remains without a timetable for a return. It will still likely be a while before he is back on the court, but his next opportunity to return will be Saturday in Indiana.

... See More ... See Less
  • Hawks' John Collins: Doubtful for Thursday's game

Collins is doubtful for Thursday's game against the Nuggets, Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

It is unclear if Collins will be on any sort of restrictions if he does manage to take the court on Thursday, although it is still unlikely he plays. The second-year big man has missed the entirety of the season with left ankle inflammation but appears to be nearing a return at some point within the next week. If he's unable to go on Thursday, his net opportunity would be Saturday against the Clippers.

  • Hawks' Dewayne Dedmon: Out Thursday vs. Nuggets

Dedmon (personal) is out Thursday against the Nuggets, Chris Vivlamore of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

Dedmon will miss a third straight game due to personal reasons Thursday. In his stead, Alex Len has seen extended run, averaging 15.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 1.0 assist across 29.5 minutes.

  • Hawks' Vince Carter: Stuffs stat sheet off bench

Carter contributed 11 points (4-7 FG, 3-5 3Pt), six rebounds and three assists across 17 minutes in the Hawks' 110-103 loss to the Warriors on Tuesday.

The ageless one did it again, checking in as the Hawks bench's second-highest scorer on the night while remaining highly active on the boards as well. Carter's rebounding total was actually a season high, while his point total was his second highest of the campaign. The 41-year-old's contributions will naturally fluctuate from game to game, but nights like Tuesday when he flashes a hot hand from distance always offer the promise of a strong return.
