Hornets' Dwayne Bacon: Not available Sunday
Bacon isn't with the team for Sunday's game against the Knicks due to travel difficulties.
Bacon was recalled for the G League prior to Sunday's contest, but because of poor weather, he wasn't able to join the Hornets in time for their upcoming matchup. He should be available off the bench for Wednesday against Detroit.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Dwayne Bacon: Back from G League
Bacon was recalled from the G League on Sunday, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.
Bacon is back with the Hornets ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Knicks after posting 22 points and nine rebounds in Saturday's win over the Delaware Blue Coats.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Dwayne Bacon: Heads down to G League
Bacon is headed back to the G League prior Saturday, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports.
This move is unsurprising as Bacon has split time between the NBA and G League all season. He didn't play in last night's tilt with the Nuggets, and failed to score in his last appearance, Wednesday against Minnesota, attempting one shot in two minutes of run.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Marvin Williams: Still dealing with soreness
Williams acknowledged after Friday's game that he's still experiencing soreness in his shoulder, but he doesn't intend to miss any additional time, Rick Bonnell of the Charlotte Observer reports.
Williams was held out of Wednesday's loss to Minnesota, but he returned Friday night against Denver and played 33 minutes, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The veteran said he was "pretty sore" after the game, but he's practicing Saturday and should be considered available going forward.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Marvin Williams: Records third double-double
Williams scored 14 points (4-12 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 3-4 FT) while adding 10 rebounds, two assists and a steal in 33 minutes during Friday's 113-107 win over the Nuggets.
It's the 32-year-old's third double-double of the season, but all three have come in the Hornets' last seven games -- and Williams missed one of those games entirely after injuring his shoulder. He looks healthy now, though, and he should continue being a solid complementary player in Charlotte's Kemba Walker-focused offense.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Kemba Walker: Leads Hornets to win
Walker scored a game-high 21 points (4-11 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 11-12 FT) while adding eight assists, six rebounds, a steal and a block in 36 minutes during Friday's 113-107 win over the Nuggets.
After starting off December with a couple of lackluster (by his standards) performances, Walker bounced back with his 18th game of the season scoring 20-plus points while draining multiple three-pointers for the first time in five games. The 28-year-old has cooled down after his blistering start to 2018-19 but he's remained productive, averaging 19.2 points, 6.4 assists, 4.1 boards, 1.7 threes and 1.6 steals over his last nine contests.... Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: Will come off bench
Kidd-Gilchrist will come off the bench Friday against the Nuggets.
With Marvin Williams (shoulder) back in the starting five after a one-game absence, Kidd-Gilchrist will head back to his usual bench role. He's averaging a career-low 20.3 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Marvin Williams: Cleared to play, will start
Williams (shoulder) will play and start Friday against the Nuggets.
Williams is healthy faster than expected, and he'll take the floor after just a one-game absence. With him back, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will head back to the bench.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Marvin Williams: Game-time call Friday
Williams (shoulder) is a game-time decision Friday against the Nuggets.
Williams may be able to return earlier than anticipated from his strained right shoulder. Coach James Borrego noted that is Williams is available, he will start.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: Plays 23 minutes in spot start
Kidd-Gilchrist tallied nine points (4-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt), five rebounds, and one steal in 23 minutes during Wednesday's 121-104 loss to Minnesota.
Kidd-Gilchrist moved into the starting lineup Wednesday, replacing the injured Marvin Williams (shoulder). The production was limited and the move may not even hold into the next game. It appears Williams' playing time is going to be absorbed by a number of players with no real beneficiary. Kidd-Gilchrist is not worth owning in standard leagues.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Miles Bridges: Scores 10 points in 20 minutes
Bridges totaled 10 points (4-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt), two rebounds, and one assist in 20 minutes during Wednesday's 121-104 loss to the Timberwolves.
Bridges played 20 minutes in Wednesday's loss, ending with 10 points and very little else. Bridges is set for some additional run with Marvin Williams (shoulder) set to miss at least the next week. The rookie certainly has some upside but is yet to really break out. If you grabbed him off the waivers, it is probably worth giving him another game to see how things play out.... See More ... Hornets' Jeremy Lamb: Double-doubles in Wednesday's loss
Lamb had 18 points (6-18 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-5 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 121-104 loss to Minnesota.
Lamb was excellent again Wednesday, continuing to stake his claim as the Hornets' second best player. After some early-season jitters, Lamb has been a picture of consistency over the last month. He currently leads the team in steals and is second in both scoring and rebounding. There is no reason to think that this production cannot stick and he should be on a roster in all leagues.... Hornets' Nicolas Batum: Team-high 36 minutes in loss
Batum finished with 18 points (7-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), eight assists, seven rebounds, and one steal in 36 minutes during Wednesday's 121-104 loss to the Timberwolves.
Batum was in vintage form Wednesday, putting forth his best game of the season. Batum has, by all accounts, had a disappointing start to his campaign. The scoring has been inconsistent, to say the least, with his supporting numbers not much better. Perhaps this will get him trending in the right direction. If you are holding him in a standard format, a little more patience is warranted.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Willy Hernangomez: To come off bench Wednesday
Hernangomez will come off the bench Wednesday against the Timberwolves.
With Cody Zeller (ribs) back and in the starting five, Hernangomez will resume his usual role off the pine. He's struggled to find minutes lately, however.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Cody Zeller: Starting Wednesday
Zeller (ribs) will play and start Wednesday against the Timberwolves.
Zeller missed Sunday's game against the Pelicans due to bruised ribs, but it will be just a one-game absence for the big man. This season, he's averaging 9.3 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 23.5 minutes.... See More ... See Less
Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: Starting Wednesday
Kidd-Gilchrist will start Wednesday's game against the Timberwolves, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.
Kidd-Gilchrist will enter the starting lineup in place of Marvin Williams, who injured his shoulder in Monday's tilt with New Orleans and will be out at least a week. In 17 games this season, Kidd-Gilchrist is averaging 8.7 points, 5.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks and 1.2 assists in 20.1 minutes.... See More ... See Less
