Top Hornets News

  • Hornets' Kemba Walker: Grabs second double-double

Walker scored 16 points (6-20 FG, 4-13 3Pt) while adding 10 assists, seven rebounds and a steal in 41 minutes during Friday's 126-124 overtime loss to the Knicks.

While he didn't supply his usual scoring output, Walker did make up for it with his second double-double of the season. The 28-year-old is averaging a career-high 6.4 assists per game already, but as defenses continue to focus on him as the Hornets' most consistent threat, that number could continue to rise.

  • Hornets' Marvin Williams: Ties season high in scoring

Williams scored 20 points (7-12 FG, 4-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT) while adding five rebounds, an assist, a steal and a block in 37 minutes during Friday's 126-124 overtime loss to the Knicks.

It's the third time Williams has dropped exactly 20 points, his best output so far this year. The veteran forward isn't typically a big scoring threat, but he's showing a little more consistency on that front lately, posting double-digit points in seven of his last 10 games while averaging 12.2 points a night over that stretch -- a figure he hasn't topped in a full season since 2008-09.

  • Hornets' Nicolas Batum: Season-best scoring in OT loss

Batum scored 21 points (8-14 FG, 5-8 3Pt) while adding seven assists and six rebounds in 39 minutes during Friday's 126-124 overtime loss to the Knicks.

The points and three-pointers were both season highs for the 30-year-old, and while Batum is capable of occasionally flashing his old multi-category form, his overall numbers continue to trend down for the Hornets -- he'd scored six points or less in five of the last six games coming into Friday.

  • Hornets' Cody Zeller: Big double-double in OT loss

Zeller scored 21 points (9-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT) while adding 13 rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block in 37 minutes during Friday's 126-124 overtime loss to the Knicks.

He tied Nic Batum for the team lead in scoring while also pacing the Hornets in boards, as Zeller recorded his first double-double of the season. He continues to have active hands on defense, grabbing multiple steals for the fourth time in the last five games, but the 26-year-old's contributions in other categories have been too inconsistent to make him a fantasy asset in most formats.

  • Hornets' Malik Monk: Available to return

Monk suffered a right foot injury during Friday's game against the Knicks but will be available to return in the second half.

Monk should be good to go for the second half of Friday's game if he's needed. It's possible he lands on the injury report ahead of Saturday's contest, especially since it's the second game of a back-to-back.

  • Hornets' Malik Monk: Limps to locker room

Monk limped to the locker room during Friday's matchup against the Knicks, Rick Bonnell of The Charlotte Observer reports.

A leg injury appears to be hampering Monk. He should be considered questionable to return.

  • Hornets' Bismack Biyombo: Inactive again Friday

Biyombo is inactive for Friday's game against New York, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.

This doesn't come as a huge surprise, given Biyombo hasn't seen any action in Charlotte's previous three games. He's averaging 1.8 points and 1.8 rebounds over 10 contests this season.

  • Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: Back at practice Thursday

Kidd-Gilchrist (personal) took part in practice Thursday, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.

Kidd-Gilchrist was held out of Wednesday's game due to a personal matter, but his presence at practice Thursday is an encouraging sign ahead of Friday's matchup with the Knicks. At this point, expect the forward to be back in the rotation, likely in a bench capacity.

  • Hornets' Kemba Walker: Leads Hornets to win

Walker scored a game-high 31 points (8-25 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 11-13 FT) while adding nine assists, eight rebounds, a steal and a block in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 108-107 win over the Pistons.

He fell just a bit short of his third career triple-double, with his last coming back in April 2014. The 31 points was also Walker's best total since he exploded for 103 combined points over back-to-back games in mid-November, but he's topped 20 in each of his last three contests, and the streaky volume shooter appears to be heating up again.

  • Hornets' Michael Kidd-Gilchrist: Ruled out Wednesday

Kidd-Gilchrist has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Pistons for personal reasons.

The circumstances behind Kidd-Gilchrist's absence is unknown at this time, so he should be considered questionable for the Hornets' next game, Friday against the Knicks. His absence could open up some more time for rookie Miles Bridges. More information on Kidd-Gilchrist's status should come out folowing Wednesday's game.

  • Hornets' Dwayne Bacon: Recalled, inactive Wednesday

Bacon was recalled from the G League but is inactive for Wednesday's contest against the Pistons, Rod Boone of The Athletic reports.

It's possible Bacon is being kept around for Friday's matchup against the Knicks. He's appeared in 15 games for the Hornets this season, averaging 5.5 points and 1.7 boards across 12.5 minutes.

  • Hornets' Devonte' Graham: Reports to G League

The Hornets assigned Graham on Wednesday to the G League's Greensboro Swarm.

The rookie second-round pick will be joined in Greensboro by Dwayne Bacon, with both players scheduled to play in the Swarm's game Wednesday at 1 p.m. EST against the Wisconsin Herd. Since the duo is local, both Graham and Bacon could be recalled from Greensboro and suit up later in the evening for the Hornets' home game against the Pistons.
