Grizzlies' Kelly Oubre: Headed for Memphis
Oubre is expected to be traded from the Wizards to the Grizzlies as part of a three-team deal which would include Trevor Ariza to the Wizards, along with Austin Rivers, Wayne Selden and MarShon Brooks to the Suns, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Although the deal hasn't been finalized, all three teams have agreed to the trade in principle, per Wojnarowski. Oubre averaged 13.0 points along with 4.4 rebounds per contest (28 games) this season with Washington, and he'll take his talents to Memphis where his role has yet to be defined. The former first-round pick will be a restricted free agent following this season, so it's possible the Grizzlies will try to sign him to a long-term deal if he performs as expected throughout the rest of the 2018-2019 campaign.... Grizzlies' Mike Conley: Cleared to play Friday
Conley (hamstring) will play Friday against the Heat.
Conley is dealing with left hamstring soreness, but will play as expected. He's averaging 17.7 points, 5.7 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.8 steals this month.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Mike Conley: Listed as probable for Friday
Conley (hamstring) is listed as probable for Friday's game against the Heat.
Conley is dealing with a sore hamstring, but he played through the issue Wednesday against the Trail Blazers and figures to do so again when the Grizzlies take on Miami on Friday. The point guard compiled 23 points, six rebounds, six assists and a steal across 32 minutes in Wednesday's win. Look for his status to clear up closer to tipoff.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' MarShon Brooks: Scores 13 points in Wednesday's win
Brooks accumulated 13 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-6 FT), four rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 18 minutes during Wednesday's 92-83 win over the Trail Blazers.
Brooks matched season highs in rebounding and assists while reaching double figures in scoring for the sixth time this season. Every so often Brooks will be left out of the rotation (appeared in 24 of 27 games), but more often than not the 29-year-old veteran earns double-digit minutes, though he's only able to accomplish so much in such limited action. With Dillon Brooks (knee) expected to return before the end of the month, MarShon Brooks will soon face even stiffer competition for time along the wing.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Marc Gasol: Swats six blocks in Wednesday's win
Gasol contributed nine points (4-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt), seven rebounds, six blocks, five assists, and one steal in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 92-83 win over the Trail Blazers.
Gasol struggled with his shot offensively but also prohibited the opponent from faring any better, finishing with a season high block total. The former Defensive Player of the Year is making a strong case that he deserves to be in the conversation once again, and this performance serves as strong evidence. Meanwhile, Gasol has been extremely solid on offense as well even despite the fact that he has combined to score just 16 points in the last two tilts.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Joakim Noah: Plays 13 minutes in Wednesday's win
Noah tallied four points (1-4 FG, 2-2 FT) and two rebounds in 13 minutes during Wednesday's 92-83 win over the Trail Blazers.
Noah has logged between 13 and 19 minutes in all five appearances thus far this season, serving as a capable fill-in who fits the team's style. Nevertheless, Noah is merely a backup center who provides depth and toughness at the position.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Garrett Temple: Quiet in Wednesday's win
Temple totaled four points (1-6 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, and one steal in 30 minutes during Wednesday's 92-83 win over the Trail Blazers.
Temple held his own defensively against a tough opposing backcourt but has almost nothing to show for it in the box score. That's becoming par for the course for the 32-year-old veteran despite earning ample minutes, as he has scored in single digits in five straight games despite earning 30-plus minutes in three of them. Temple isn't a poor option in deep leagues, but he doesn't offer enough production to be a viable option in standard leagues.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Mike Conley: Full line in Wednesday's win
Conley collected 23 points (9-18 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 3-4 FT), six rebounds, six assists, and one steal in 32 minutes during Wednesday's 92-83 win over the Trail Blazers.
Conley had been dealing with a sore hamstring but was able to give it a go, carrying the team offensively with an efficient and well-rounded stat line. He'll now have a day to rest and recover before enduring three games in four nights versus the Heat (Friday), Rockets (Saturday), and Warriors (Monday), after which Conley and company will battle these same Trail Blazers next Wednesday.... The rookie is expected to return to basketball activities within the next week, but it's unclear when he could be back on the floor in game action. Carter is yet to play in a game for Memphis, but he's spent considerable time with the Grizzlies' G League affiliate.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Dillon Brooks: Expected to return in December
Brooks (knee) is on schedule in his recovery and is expected to be back before the end of December.
Brooks has been out since Nov. 10 with a Grade 2 MCL sprain, but he's progressing well in his recovery and is on track to be back within the next three weeks. The second-year wing was averaging 19.9 minutes per game before the injury, which he'd translated to 7.3 points, 1.9 rebounds, 1.0 assist and 0.7 made threes per contest.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Mike Conley: Questionable with sore hamstring
Conley is questionable for Wednesday's matchup against the Trail Blazers due to left hamstring soreness.
Conley presumably aggravated his hamstring during Monday's game against the Nuggets. More information about his status could arrive following morning shootaround. If he misses Wednesday's game, it would be his first absence of the 2018-19 campaign. Shelvin Mack would be a strong candidate to start at point guard.... See More ... See Less
Grizzlies' Omri Casspi: Scores season-high 12 points Monday
Casspi totaled 12 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), six rebounds, and two assists in 19 minutes during Monday's 105-99 loss to the Nuggets.
Casspi dropped a season-high 12 points Monday as the Grizzlies fell to the Nuggets. Casspi has the ability to score the ball when given minutes, however, the playing time is just not there at the moment. We would need to see him do this a few more times before making any moves to grab him off waivers.... See More ... See Less
