Top Bucks News

  • Bucks' Jason Smith: Healthy inactive Monday

Smith (coach's decision) was inactive for Monday's 116-106 win over the Mavericks.

The Bucks had all of their key rotation options available for the contest, forcing coach Mike Budenholzer to make some tough choices with his inactive players. Budenholzer ultimately chose to keep Thon Maker active as a third center over Smith, who has appeared in just six of the Bucks' 22 games since coming over in a Dec. 7 trade with the Wizards. Smith probably won't see meaningful action this season unless at least two of the centers ahead of him on the depth succumb to injuries.

  • Bucks' Christian Wood: Called up from G League

Wood was recalled by the Bucks on Tuesday.

Bucks fans have been clamoring for Wood to join the NBA roster for some time now, as the athletic forward has been dominating G League competition while on assignment with the Wisconsin Herd. Over the last three games, Wood averaged 26.3 points, 13.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.3 blocks, while shooting just under 60 percent from the field. He likely won't play much of a role for the Bucks, but Wood will provide depth in the frontcourt and could eventually challenge Thon Maker and D.J. Wilson for reserve minutes.

  • Bucks' Khris Middleton: Scores 13 points in 33 minutes

Middleton had 13 points (6-18 FG, 1-7 3PT), eight rebounds and three assists in Monday's win over Dallas.

While Middleton had another solid, all-around performance, it's worth noting that he's fallen into a bit of a scoring slump of late. Monday marked his fifth straight game with fewer than 20 points, and he has just one 20-point game since January 1. Over that span, Middleton is averaging just over 15 points per game.

  • Bucks' Eric Bledsoe: Puts up 21 in win

Bledsoe had 21 points (8-16 FG, 1-7 3PT, 4-4 FT), five assists and four rebounds in Monday's win over Dallas.

While Bledsoe struggled from beyond the arc, he continues to play well for the Bucks with free agency approaching this summer. Bledsoe has scored at least 16 points in six straight games, and he's attempted at least 13 field goals in each of his last five.

  • Bucks' Brook Lopez: Double-double in win

Lopez had 16 points (6-10 FG, 4-7 3PT), 10 rebounds and five blocks in Monday's win over Dallas.

Lopez was his usual self from beyond the arc, firing up seven attempts and hitting at least four threes for the 10th time this season. The big man now has 11 blocks over his last two games, and Monday marked his first double-double of the season and only the second time he's reached 10 rebounds.

  • Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Big day in win over Mavs

Antetokounmpo had 31 points (10-20 FG, 1-2 3PT, 10-12 FT), 15 rebounds and five assists in Monday's win over Dallas.

The Mavs were able to hang around into the fourth quarter, but Antetokounpmo led the way as the Bucks notched their 34th win of the season. Antetokounmpo continues to be among the top players in all of fantasy basketball, though his lack of three-point production is a hit to his overall value.

  • Bucks' Christian Wood: Spectacular showing in win

Wood racked up 34 points (15-25 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-4 FT), 23 rebounds, an assist, a steal and three blocks across 26 minutes Saturday against Capital City.

Despite playing just 26 minutes, Wood put forth an absolute monster performance, cleaning up in the scoring department and on the glass. His scoring barrage was just enough to hand the Herd a 109-105 victory. Wood continues to dominate in the G League so far this season, averaging 27.4 points, 13.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists, 1.1 steals and 2.4 blocks over 16 matchups.

  • Bucks' Trevon Duval: Sits with groin injury

Duval was held out of Saturday's game against Capital City due to a groin injury.

It's unknown when Duval picked up the injury, but it was evidently significant enough to sideline him for Saturday's matchup. The severity of the issue remains unknown, although his next chance to return will come Wednesday against Windy City.

  • Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo: Big double-double against Magic

Antetokounmpo scored 25 points (10-17 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT) while adding 13 rebounds, five assists and two steals in 32 minutes during Saturday's 118-108 win over the Magic.

The double-double was his 31st of the season, putting him fifth in the NBA in that category. Antetokounmpo and the Bucks have now moved a half-game ahead of the Raptors with the best record in the league, and while he's had a huge beginning to the campaign, his second half could be even bigger -- the 24-year-old is shooting a semi-respectable 30.8 percent (8-for-26) from three-point range over the last 11 games, more than 10 points better than his mark on the season.

  • Bucks' Eric Bledsoe: Sets new season scoring high

Bledsoe scored a season-high 30 points (12-14 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-5 FT) while adding seven rebounds and two assists in 31 minutes during Saturday's 118-108 win over the Magic.

The 28-year-old guard led all scorers on the night while draining multiple three-pointers for the fifth straight game. Bledsoe is off to a solid start to 2019, averaging 16.7 points, 5.6 assists, 4.7 boards, 1.9 steals and 1.2 threes over the last 10 games.

  • Bucks' Donte DiVincenzo: Cleared to play Saturday

DiVincenzo (heel) has been cleared to play Saturday against the Magic, Matt Velazquez of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

DiVincenzo hasn't seen the court since Jan. 1 as a result of a heel injury, but he seems to have shaken it off and will be available if needed Saturday. That said, he's seen his role reduced since the Bucks brought in George Hill via trade.

  • Bucks' Donte DiVincenzo: Questionable Saturday

DiVincenzo (heel) is questionable Saturday against the Magic.

The rookie continues to be bothered by left bilateral heel bursitis, and he may not be able to take the court Saturday. That said, his minutes had previously begun to fall off after the acquisition of George Hill, so DiVincenzo's absence wouldn't affect the Bucks' situation much.

  • Bucks' Tony Snell: Not on report

Snell is not listed on the Bucks' injury report ahead of Saturday's game against Orlando.

Snell picked up a thumb injury in Wednesday's win over Memphis, but with two days off, he's apparently moved past the ailment and will be good to go Saturday. Snell's minutes have fluctuated on a night-to-night basis, but he typically settles in in the 17-to-21 range.

  • Bucks' Pat Connaughton: Logs second-most minutes of January

Connaughton tallied three points (1-2 FG, 1-2 3Pt), three boards and two assists across 12 minutes Wednesday in the Bucks' 111-101 win over the Grizzlies.

With the Bucks blowing the game open in the third quarter, coach Mike Budenholzer was able to empty the bench, allowing Connaughton to earn double-digit minutes for the second straight contest. Tony Snell (thumb) was also forced to exit in the first half due to injury, so if he's unable to play in the Bucks' next game Saturday in Orlando, Connaughton and Sterling Brown could retain a spot on the second unit.
