  • Timberwolves' Jerryd Bayless: Remains out

Bayless (knee) won't play Sunday against Memphis.

Bayless has yet to play a game this season while dealing with a left knee sprain and there's currently no timetable for his return.

  • Timberwolves' Robert Covington: Limited production Friday

Covington tallied 14 points (5-7 FG, 4-6 3Pt), five rebounds, and three steals in 23 minutes during Friday's 112-96 victory over Portland.

After playing a whopping 41 minutes in his debut for the Timberwolves on Wednesday, Covington managed only 23 minutes Friday. He was in some foul trouble and this was likely the cause so owners need not worry too much. Derrick Rose also returned to the lineup which may have had an impact, but all-in-all, Covington should be just fine moving forward.

  • Timberwolves' Dario Saric: Plays 27 minutes Friday

Saric had nine points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, one steal, and one block in 27 minutes during Friday's 112-96 victory over the Trail Blazers.

In his second outing for the Timberwolves, Saric came off the bench to score nine points. The production basically mirrored that from his first game, however, the minutes increased. It appears as though it is going to be a straight timeshare between Saric and Taj Gibson, based on who has the hot hand and the matchup. This is going to limit the upside of both players and Saric in particular, becomes a borderline standard league option.

  • Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins: Leads all scorers with 23 points

Wiggins had 23 points (9-21 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), five rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block in 37 minutes during Friday's 112-96 victory over Portland.

Wiggins' strong post-Jimmy Butler form continued Friday as he matched his season-high of 23 points. He also chipped in across the board with some valuable production. Across his last three games, Wiggins has a combined 17 rebounds, 11 assists, six steals, and two blocks. While these are far from spectacular, they do prove he is capable of contributing in other areas. If he manages this with any kind of regularity, his overall value will take a huge bump.

  • Timberwolves' Derrick Rose: Scores 17 points in return

Rose finished with 17 points (7-13 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-4 FT), seven rebounds, and six assists in 33 minutes during Friday's 112-96 victory over the Trail Blazers.

Rose returned to the lineup after missing just one game due to knee soreness, scoring 17 points in 33 minutes. Rose has been one of the more uplifting stories of the fantasy season so far, turning back the clock with some vintage performances. Missed games could occur sporadically throughout the season as they look to ensure he lasts, but his production during his time on the floor is solid enough to warrant standard league ownership.

  • Timberwolves' Jerryd Bayless: Remains out Friday

Bayless (knee) is unavailable for Friday's game against Portland.

Bayless hasn't taken the floor yet since coming to the Timberwolves, and it's unclear as to when he may be healthy enough to dress. His next chance to play will come Sunday against the Grizzlies.

  • Timberwolves' Derrick Rose: Slated to play Friday

Rose (knee) will take the court Friday against Portland, Alan Horton of the Timberwolves Radio Network reports.

Rose was held out Wednesday against the Pelicans with a knee issue, but he's good to go after practicing Thursday. He'll come off the bench behind Jeff Teague as usual after returning to health.

  • Timberwolves' Derrick Rose: Practices Thursday

Rose (knee) went through Thursday's practice, Dane Moore of 1500AM ESPN Radio reports.

Coach Tom Thibodeau noted that Rose is "good", but that's far from a confirmation that Rose will be available Friday against the Trail Blazers. He should tentatively be considered questionable, with another update likely arriving after morning shootaround.

  • Timberwolves' Karl-Anthony Towns: Back-to-back 25-point outings

Towns recorded 25 points (9-17 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 16 rebounds, three assists and two blocks across 35 minutes in Wednesday's 107-100 win over the Pelicans.

New pickups Robert Covington and Dario Saric made their team debuts for Minnesota after coming over from Philadelphia in a blockbuster trade over the weekend, but neither seemed to have a negative impact on Towns' production. The offense continued to run through the franchise center, who is averaging an outstanding 25.5 points, 16.3 boards, 2.0 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.8 three-pointers in 37.8 minutes per game over the past four contests. The only downside of Towns' added usage of late is that it has resulted in an increased turnover rate, with the big man coughing up the ball a whopping 25 times over that four-game stretch.

  • Timberwolves' Gorgui Dieng: Faces more competition for minutes

Dieng scored two points with four rebounds in 13 minutes in Wednesday's win over New Orleans.

Dieng was already seeing a reduced role this season (13.4 mpg from 16.9 mpg last year) and the acquisition of two front-court additions in Robert Covington and Dario Saric won't help. He'll still get some minutes when the T-Wolves need a bigger lineup, but his upside off the bench is even more limited.

  • Timberwolves' Josh Okogie: Provides spark off bench

Okogie scored 11 points with five rebounds, three steals and an assist in 17 minutes in Wednesday's win over New Orleans. He was 3-of-5 from three-point range.

Okogie provided a spark with several hustle plays that should keep him in the mix off the bench. He played 17 minutes in the first game with new acquisitions Robert Covington and Dario Saric in the mix. While that's lower than his 25.1 minutes per game average, it shows he can still be a factor off the bench.

  • Timberwolves' Anthony Tolliver: Stuck on bench with new acquisitions

Tolliver did not play in Wednesday's win over New Orleans due to a coach's decision.

With Minnesota trading for Robert Covington and Dario Saric, it looks like Tolliver may be stuck on the bench. Head coach Tom Thibodeau tends to give heavy minutes to his starters and uses a small rotation of players off the bench, so Tolliver may see few minutes. Minnesota may not need Tolliver's three-point shooting prowess as much with Covington in the starting lineup.

  • Timberwolves' Taj Gibson: Scores 10 points in Wednesday's win

Gibson registered 10 points (4-7 FG, 2-4 FT), four rebounds, one assist, one steal, and one block in 28 minutes during Wednesday's 107-100 win over the Pelicans.

Gibson held onto his starting spot, with recent addition Dario Saric coming off the bench to play 20 minutes. Gibson has already made it clear he's willing to come off the bench in the event that coach Tom Thibodeau decides to swap Saric into the starting five. Regardless, the additional depth down low does not bode well for Gibson's fantasy value, as he was already merely a decent low-end option in standard leagues.

  • Timberwolves' Robert Covington: Plays team-high 41 minutes in Wednesday's win

Covington collected 13 points (4-11 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in 41 minutes during Wednesday's 107-100 win over the Pelicans.

Covington was a major factor in this his first game with the Timberwolves, providing his usual supply of three-point shooting and defense while earning a team high minute total. Covington's performance in this one illustrates why he was so highly coveted in the recent Jimmy Butler trade, as his ability to space the floor offensively and stop opposing teams from scoring on the other end fits perfectly within coach Tom Thibodeau's master plan.

  • Timberwolves' Andrew Wiggins: Scores season-high 23 points in Wednesday's win

Wiggins supplied 23 points (8-22 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 3-5 FT), six rebounds, four assists, three steals, and one block in 38 minutes during Wednesday's 107-100 win over the Pelicans.

Wiggins was a game-time call due to a bruised knee but ultimately gave it a go. Given his stat line (season high in scoring), minute total, and how frequently he attacked the basket, it's safe to say Wiggins was not overly bothered by the ailment. Expect him to be just as aggressive in Friday's matchup with the Trail Blazers.

... See More ... See Less
  • Timberwolves' Jeff Teague: Hands out season-high 14 assists

Teague totaled 14 points (4-13 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), 14 assists, two rebounds, one steal and one block in 37 minutes during Wednesday's 107-100 win over the Pelicans.

Teague finished with a season high in assists while notching his second straight double-double. After missing seven consecutive games with a knee injury, Teague returned to the lineup with a sterling performance in Monday's win over the Nets, in which he compiled 24 points, 11 dimes, three steals, and one board in 35 minutes. With Derrick Rose (knee) now bothered by the injury bug, Teague could be relied on heavily once again during Friday's matchup with the Trail Blazers, especially if Rose remains sidelined.
