76ers' T.J. McConnell: Outshines Fultz as backup point man
McConnell played eight minutes and finished with two points (1-3 FG), two steals, one rebound and one assist Monday in the 76ers' 119-114 win over the Suns.
McConnell's stat line was nothing to write home about, but it's worth noting that he saw more run in the second half as the backup point guard than 2017 No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz, whose shooting struggles have lingered into his sophomore campaign. Coach Brett Brown wouldn't commit to either player being the main backup to Ben Simmons after the contest, but the decision was made for him Tuesday, when David Aldridge of The Athletic relayed that Fultz would step away from the team and meet with a shoulder specialist in New York early next week. With Fultz now facing an uncertain return timeline, McConnell should regularly crack double-digit minutes, though that probably won't be enough to give him much fantasy appeal outside very deep formats.... 76ers' Markelle Fultz: Out at least one week
Fultz will see a shoulder specialist early next week and will be away from the team until he is evaluated, David Aldridge of The Athetlic reports.
Fultz's struggles have continued this season, and prior to Tuesday's news, it appeared he was on the verge of losing his spot in the rotation to T.J. McConnell. However, Fultz will now be completely out of the lineup until further testing is done on his shoulder that plagued him for nearly all of his rookie season. In his absence, T.J. McConnell should now be in line for plenty of minutes as the backup point guard to Ben Simmons.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Furkan Korkmaz: Hands out career-high four dimes
Korkmaz accumulated two points (1-5 FG, 0-3 3Pt), four assists, and three rebounds in 16 minutes during Monday's 119-114 win over the Suns.
Korkmaz finished with a career high in assists while earning double-digit minutes for the sixth straight contest. It seems safe to say Korkmaz has solidified a spot in the team's regular rotation, as trading two players (Robert Covington and Dario Saric) for one (Jimmy Butler) opened up some playing time. The 76ers don't have much depth along the wing. Moreover, Korkmaz's ability to stretch the floor with his shot makes him a fine fit in lineups with the team's top players. With that being said, Korkmaz is best reserved for use in deeper leagues.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Joel Embiid: Dominant in Monday's win
Embiid recorded 33 points (12-23 FG, 0-5 3Pt, 9-12 FT), 17 rebounds, three steals, one assist, and one block in 36 minutes during Monday's 119-114 win over the Suns.
Embiid continues to deliver incredible offensive and defensive counting stats, and his ability to get to the free-throw line (and sink them) bolsters his already impressive scoring prowess. While coach Brett Brown indicated that Embiid could receive a night off at some point to rest his bruised hand, it's unlikely that will take place on Wednesday, as Embiid will probably be amped up to face another elite big man in Anthony Davis.... 76ers' Wilson Chandler: Plays 31 minutes in Monday's win
Chandler chipped in two points (1-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt), four rebounds, and three assists in 31 minutes during Monday's 119-114 win over the Suns.
Chandler was supposedly going to be limited to 27 minutes, but he surpassed that to earn the fourth-most minutes on the team. Chandler fills a need, as the 76ers are lacking along the wing, particularly defensively, outside of Ben Simmons and Jimmy Butler. It's still unclear when Zhaire Smith (foot) will return, though it's likely later rather than sooner. As a result, unless another trade is on the horizon or the buyout market heats up, Chandler is a good bet to keep earning plenty of playing time going forward.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Mike Muscala: Scores season-high 19 points
Muscala posted 19 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 9-11 FT) and five rebounds in 23 minutes during Monday's 119-114 win over the Suns.
Muscala finished with a season high in scoring despite moving back into a reserve role following Saturday's start against the Hornets, in which he saw a season-high 37 minutes. Muscala continues to provide decent contributions in the scoring, rebounding, and three-point shooting categories, and he is clearly a regular part of the team's rotation given that this was his lowest minute total of the month.... 76ers' Mike Muscala: Heads back to bench
Muscala will resume a bench role Monday against the Suns.
Muscala drew the start at power forward Sunday, scoring just six points over 37 minutes of action. He should log a good chunk of playing time off the bench, but Wilson Chandler gets the nod and figures to do so moving forward.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Wilson Chandler: Starting Monday
Chandler will start Monday's game against the Suns.
After ceding his starting spot to Mike Muscala for Sunday's game, Chandler will resume his usual role Monday. The move corresponds with an increase in Chandler's minutes restriction to a maximum of 27 minutes. Chandler appears to be on the right track to playing without any limitations soon.... See More ... 76ers' Jonah Bolden: Will be reevaluated in 10 days
Bolden was diagnosed with a small cortical crack in the proximal fibula of his right leg Monday.
Bolden suffered the injury during Saturday's G League game, and a subsequent MRI confirmed the severity of the issue. He's expected to be reevaluated in 10 days.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Wilson Chandler: Minutes restriction increased
Coach Brett Brown said Chandler will be limited to 27 minutes Monday against the Suns, Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Chandler hasn't played more than 23 minutes in a game this season while working back from a hamstring injury, but he's getting closer to handling a full dosage of minutes. The veteran figures to see around 30 minutes per contest once his minutes restriction is lifted.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Joel Embiid: Team not concerned about bruised hand
Coach Brett Brown indicated that Embiid may get a game off to rest at some point, but he didn't specify when, Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports.
Embiid has been nursing some soreness and swelling his right hand, but all indications are that he'll continue to play through the ailment, which the team doesn't consider serious. Brown acknowledged Monday that it may make sense to allow Embiid a game off to rest, but the Sixers don't exactly have games to spare as they work to integrate new acquisition Jimmy Butler into the rotation. Embiid is coming off of a 33-point, 11-rebound performance in Saturday's win over Charlotte.... See More ... See Less
76ers' J.J. Redick: Drops 23 in OT win over Hornets
Redick scored 23 points (9-17 FG, 5-11 3Pt) while adding one rebound, one assist and one block in 30 minutes during Saturday's 122-119 overtime win over the Hornets.
The veteran guard knows his role -- in five games since moving into the starting lineup, Redick is averaging 21.2 points and 3.2 made three-pointers on 44.4 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Joel Embiid and Jimmy Butler should emerge as the focal points of the Sixers' offense once Butler has fully adjusted to his new surroundings, with Ben Simmons facilitating matters, but at least so far there have been more than enough shots left over for Redick to make a fantasy impact as well.... 76ers' Ben Simmons: Just misses triple-double in OT win
Simmons scored 23 points (7-13 FG, 9-11 FT) while adding 11 rebounds, nine assists and two steals in 39 minutes during Saturday's 122-119 overtime win over the Hornets.
After racking up 12 triple-doubles in his first NBA campaign last season, Simmons already has two this year and nearly grabbed his third in 17 games Saturday. The Sixers are still adjusting to the addition of Jimmy Butler, but it doesn't seem like Simmons' multi-category fantasy impact will be affected.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Joel Embiid: Drops team-high 33 in OT win
Embiid (hand) scored 33 points (9-23 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 13-14 FT) while adding 11 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal in 40 minutes during Saturday's 122-119 overtime win over the Hornets.
The swelling Embiid's been experiencing in his right hand didn't slow him down at all, as he still recorded his 16th double-double of the season while scoring 30-plus points for the 10th time in 18 games. The 24-year-old played only 63 games last season, so his ability to stay healthy remains a concern, but at the moment the hand issue doesn't seem like it will keep him off the court.... See More ... 76ers' Wilson Chandler: Coming off bench Saturday
Chandler will come off the bench Saturday against the Hornets, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Mike Muscala will start in place of Chandler, who is limited to about 12 minutes. As a result, he's an incredibly risky play in DFS.... See More ... See Less
76ers' Mike Muscala: Starting Saturday
Muscala will start for Wilson Chandler during Saturday's game against the Hornets, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
With Chandler's minutes limited to about 12, coach Brett Brown will opt to bring him off the bench. Over the past three games, Muscala has averaged 9.0 points, 5.7 rebounds and 1.0 assists.... See More ... See Less
