Top 76ers News

  • 76ers' J.J. Redick: Drops 25 in likely final start

Redick scored 25 points (11-20 FG, 3-9 3Pt) while adding three assists and a rebound in 31 minutes during Monday's 124-114 win over the Heat.

The veteran sharpshooter has taken advantage of his brief starting window while the Sixers wait for Jimmy Butler to officially join the roster, scoring 20-plus points in back-to-back games while going 6-for-15 from three-point range. Redick should maintain a key role off the bench once Butler arrives, but it's unlikely he'll continue to average the 31.1 minutes, 17.9 points or 8.4 three-point attempts per game -- all career highs -- he's been seeing to date.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Dominates Heat in win

Embiid scored 35 points (8-15 FG, 3-4 3Pt, 16-20 FT) while adding 18 rebounds and three assists in 36 minutes during Monday's 124-114 win over the Heat.

The points and boards were both game highs for either team, as Embiid dropped 30-plus points for the ninth time while supplying his eighth straight double-double and 14th overall in 15 games. It will be interesting to see how the addition of Jimmy Butler to the Sixers' lineup affects Embiid's usage, but given the dominant numbers he's posted so far, it's hard to imagine his shot attempts -- particularly the career-high 11.1 free-throw attempts per game he's averaging -- will decrease too much.

  • 76ers' Wilson Chandler: Cleared to play 20 minutes

Chandler will start Monday's game against the Heat but he'll be limited to around 20 minutes, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

In the wake of the Jimmy Butler trade, the Sixers will move Chandler into the starting lineup at power forward, but he'll remain on a minutes restriction in his fourth game back after missing the start of the season with a hamstring strain. As a result, he's best avoided in DFS contests for the time being, but once that restriction is lifted, Chandler should have an expanded role with Robert Covington and Dario Saric now out of the picture. Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philly reports that Chandler is expected to be cleared for a full workload beginning with Wednesday's game in Orlando.

  • 76ers' Mike Muscala: Cleared to return Monday

Muscala (nose) is available to play Monday against the Heat, Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Muscala has been cleared to return after missing the previous three games with a broken nose. Prior to suffering the injury, the big man posted averages of 7.4 points and 3.8 rebounds across 20.6 minutes per game. Muscala should see a healthy dosage of minutes Monday following the departures of Dario Saric and Robert Covington.

  • 76ers' J.J. Redick: Starting again vs. Heat

Redick will start Monday's game against Miami, Tim Bontemps of ESPN reports.

In the wake of the Jimmy Butler trade, Redick moved into the starting five for Saturday's game against Memphis, and he'll remain in that role Monday with Butler unavailable. The expectation is that Butler will assume Redick's spot beginning with Wednesday's game in Orlando, though at some point the Sixers could start the pair together if Markelle Fultz's early-season struggles continue. Redick had 20 points, including three made threes, in 34 minutes of action Saturday.

  • 76ers' Wilson Chandler: Will play, start Monday

Chandler will be available for Monday's game against Miami, Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philly reports. Tim Bontemps of ESPN adds that Chandler will move into the starting lineup.

Chandler was held out of Saturday's matchup with Memphis for rest purposes, but he'll be back to availability Monday and will immediately be set for an increased role in the wake of Saturday's blockbuster trade. In three games since returning from injury, Chandler has been limited to 16 minutes or fewer, but with no Dario Saric or Robert Covington, the Sixers will be shorthanded on the wing, so Chandler will likely be thrust into more minutes, assuming the Sixers' medical team allows it. He'll start at the four alongside Joel Embiid, J.J. Redick, Markelle Fultz and Ben Simmons.

  • 76ers' Mike Muscala: Goes through shootaround

Muscala (nose) went through shootaround Monday morning, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Muscala is still dealing with a broken nose, but his participation in shootaround is an encouraging sign as Monday's matchup with the Heat approaches. The Sixers are listing him as questionable for the time being, but it wouldn't be a surprise if he's cleared to play following a three-game absence.

  • 76ers' T.J. McConnell: Scores season-high 16 points in Saturday's loss

McConnell finished with 16 points (7-8 FG, 2-2 FT), seven assists, three rebounds, one steal, and one block in 34 minutes during Saturday's 112-106 overtime loss to the Grizzlies.

McConnell filled in admirably, scoring a season high point total despite being a healthy scratch in three of the last five games and earning a combined 10 minutes in the two recent appearances. However, his return to prominence could be short-lived given the team's acquisition of Jimmy Butler.

  • 76ers' Furkan Korkmaz: Scores career-high 12 points in Saturday's loss

Korkmaz collected 12 points (4-8 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, and two steals in 23 minutes during Saturday's 112-106 overtime loss to the Grizzlies.

Korkmaz stepped up in this his first opportunity to play double-digit minutes, finishing with career highs in scoring, rebounding, assists, steals, and made threes. With Jimmy Butler yet to join the rotation and Wilson Chandler (rest) sitting out, Korkmaz made the most of every extra second spent on the court, though it remains to be seen whether this is a sign of things to come for the sophomore.
