Top 76ers News

  • 76ers' J.J. Redick: Records 22 points in 35 minutes

Redick posted 22 points (8-19 FG, 4-12 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three assists, and one block in 35 minutes Friday in Philadelphia's loss to Indiana.

Redick is in the midst of his worst shooting season since joining the NBA in 2006, but he is averaging a career-high in points per game (18.2). He has shot 35-percent from beyond-the-arc so far this season after eclipsing the 40-percent threshold for four straight seasons. It's worth noting that the veteran sharpshooter is also taking more three's this season than ever before (7.8 attempts per game), more than an attempt per game higher than his previous career-high. Redick plays a crucial role on this 76ers team as their primary space-creator and will continue to see opportunities on offense.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Records double-double 34 minutes

Embiid accounted for 40 points (13-22 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 13-16 FT), 21 rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block in 34 minutes Friday in Philadelphia's loss to Indiana.

Embiid was dominance defined for a 76ers team that was without Jimmy Butler (groin) Friday. His 40 point, 21 rebound performance was the first of it's kind so far in the 2018-19 season, and he is only the 16th player to post such a line in the past 25 years. Embiid's MVP case only got stronger tonight, and his fantasy value is somehow still rising.

  • 76ers' Mike Muscala: Will play Friday

Muscala (illness) will play Friday against the Pacers, Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

Muscala missed Wednesday's game against Brooklyn due to an illness, but is feeling better after getting some rest. Over the past six games, he's averaging 10.7 points, 6.7 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.2 blocks in 27.3 minutes.

  • 76ers' Jimmy Butler: Ruled out Friday

Butler (groin) will not play in Friday's game against the Pacers, Serena Winters of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.

This will Butler's second straight absence since suffering a groin strain in Monday's win over the Pistons. There was some optimism surrounding Butler's status after he was tagged as questionable, but it looks like the 76ers will continue to be cautious with the All-Star. Furkan Korkmaz will get the start once again in Butler's absence.

  • 76ers' Mike Muscala: Questionable for Friday

Muscala (illness) is listed as questionable for Friday's contest against the Pacers, Derek Bodner of The Athletic reports.

After missing Wednesday's game against the Nets due to an illness, Muscala has had two days to recover and will likely try to play during Friday's matchup. However, if Muscala is ruled out once again, Wilson Chandler and Amir Johnson are two candidates to see their playing time increase Friday against Indiana.

  • 76ers' Jimmy Butler: Listed as questionable

Butler (groin) is listed as questionable for Friday's contest against the Pacers, Derek Bodner of The Athletic reports.

Having to miss Wednesday's contest against the Nets due to a lingering groin injury, this is great news for the Marquette product as he will likely try to give it a go Friday. However, the 76ers maybe extra-cautious with their star forward and will probably not play Butler until he is totally cleared of his injury. If Butler is held out for a second straight game Friday, teammates Furkan Korkmaz and Wilson Chandler will likely be counted on for increased usage.

  • 76ers' T.J. McConnell: Scores 17 points off bench

McConnell accrued 17 points (8-10 FG, 1-1 3Pt), four assists and two rebounds in 28 minutes Wednesday against Philadelphia.

The backup guard had an excellent shooting night Wednesday, hitting 8-of-10 shots from the field including his lone three-pointer. McConnell has reached double-figures in four of his past six games after doing it just twice in his first 17. This scoring burst has corresponded with an increase in minutes, which if it sustains, could make McConnell a worthy pickup in deeper leagues.

  • 76ers' Ben Simmons: Produces across board in loss

Simmons produced 22 points (9-15 FG, 4-5 FT), eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals and two blocks across 35 minutes during Wednesday's loss to Brooklyn.

While Simmons has failed to noticeably improve on the year, he's still one of the foremost fantasy options for cross-category production. The 21-year old has stepped up his defensive production of late, averaging 2.3 steals and 2.0 blocks over his past three games. On the season, Simmons is averaging 15.4 points, 9.0 rebounds, 7.9 assists, 1.4 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game.

  • 76ers' Furkan Korkmaz: Reaches 18 points

Korkmaz generated 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-3 3Pt), six assists, three rebounds, three assists and three steals in 34 minutes Wednesday against Brooklyn.

The Turkish guard reached 18 points for the second-straight game, and played a season-high 34 minutes while starting in place of Jimmy Butler (groin). Korkmaz has been productive when he's seen the court, scoring in double-figures in all six games he's played 20 minutes. That said, his season average of 12.0 minutes is far too low for Korkmaz to be considered a relevant fantasy option beyond DFS at this point in his career.

  • 76ers' Joel Embiid: Scores team-high 33 points

Embiid accumulated 33 points (12-18 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 7-8 FT), 17 rebounds, six assists, a steal and a block during Wednesday's loss to the Nets.

Embiid obliterated Brooklyn's front line with a massive double-double. The all-star center has struggled of late, and had averaged just 16.2 points in his previous four games. Embiid has continued to progress in his fifth year, and is averaging career-highs points, rebounds, assists and minutes, putting up 26.3 points, 13.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.2 threes in 34.3 minutes per game.

  • 76ers' Furkan Korkmaz: Starting Wednesday

Korkmaz is starting Wednesday against the Nets, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

With Jimmy Butler (groin) out, the 76ers are thin on the wing. As a result, Korkmaz will join the starters. During Monday's game against Detroit, Korkmaz posted 18 points, seven boards, one assist and one steal in 26 minutes and makes for a low-cost flier in DFS.

  • 76ers' Jimmy Butler: Ruled out Wednesday

Butler (groin) is out Wednesday against the Nets, Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

As expected, Butler will be in street clothes for Wednesday's contest. The 76ers lost significant depth trading for Butler earlier in the year, so this absence is a real blow. Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid will likely be relied upon more than usual, while some role players like J.J. Redick and Furkan Korkmaz could be worth fliers in DFS settings.

  • 76ers' Mike Muscala: Out with illness

Muscala has been ruled out of Wednesday's game against the Nets due to an illness, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Muscala has taken on a larger role in the rotation over the last month, but he'll be unavailable Wednesday due to an upper respiratory condition. The Sixers will also be without Jimmy Butler, so expect Wilson Chandler and Joel Embiid to each see extended minutes up front. Amir Johnson and Furkan Korkmaz will also be in line for increased time.

  • 76ers' Jonah Bolden: Returns to G League

Bolden was sent to the Delaware Blue Coats on Tuesday, Adam Johnson of 2Ways10Days.com reports.

Bolden took part in Tuesday's practice with the 76ers but was returned to the G League almost immediately after. He'll take the court for Thursday's matchup with the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.
