Trail Blazers' Maurice Harkless: Out again Friday
Harkless (knee) won't play Friday against the Timberwolves, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Harkless is set to miss his tenth straight contest due to a knee injury. He'll continue to be monitored from day-to-day with his next chance to suit up coming Sunday in Washington.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Seth Curry: Won't play Friday
Curry (knee) has been ruled out for Friday's matchup against Minnesota, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Curry has been day-to-day with a lingering knee injury suffered during Wednesday's tilt, and although his MRI results came back negative, he'll be sidelined for at least Friday's contest. Evan Turner and Wade Baldwin could be in line for more minutes as a result. Curry's next chance to take the floor will come Sunday against Washington.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Seth Curry: Day-to-day with knee injury
Curry's MRI results on his injured right knee came back nagative and he is considered day-to-day, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Curry left Wednesday's game against the Lakers after banging knees and was unable to return. He should be considered questionable-at-best for Friday's game against the Timberwolves, and should he be held out of the contest, Nik Stauskas would be in line for some extended action off the bench.... Trail Blazers' Evan Turner: Stuffs stat sheet on second unit
Turner managed six points (3-9 FG, 0-1 3Pt), seven rebounds, six assists and one block across 27 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 126-117 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday.
Turner managed to generate a serviceable final line due to his work on the boards and as a facilitator, but his shooting slump carried over to a second consecutive game. The 30-year-old is just 5-for-17 from the field -- including 0-for-4 from three-point range -- over his last pair of contests, and he' s now posted single-digit scoring tallies in three of his past four contests overall. Irrespective of his current struggles, Turner should nevertheless continue logging a robust allotment of second-unit minutes that typically fall in the mid-20s at minimum, giving him a chance to return to a more consistent level of production on offense.... Trail Blazers' Al-Farouq Aminu: Another strong offensive effort in loss
Aminu produced 18 points (7-11 FG, 4-7 3Pt), five rebounds and three blocks across 34 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 126-117 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday.
Despite the disappointing team outcome, Aminu generated a third straight strong offensive performance. In fact, the veteran's scoring total served as a season best, and it came on the strength of a new high-water mark of four made threes. The 28-year-old's three swats were also a season high and pushed his November total to six, following seven-game stretch to open the season when he posted just a sole block.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' C.J. McCollum: Eclipses 20 points again in loss
McCollum tallied 23 points (9-20 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four assists, one rebound and two steals across 35 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 126-117 loss to the Lakers on Wednesday.
McCollum's efforts were an excellent complement to those of backcourt mate Damian Lillard's, who led the way with a 31-point, 11-assist double-double. The 27-year-old has had a rollercoaster of a month on the scoring front, turning in a trio of sub-20-point efforts, including a season-low eight-point tally. However, McCollum has scored between 23 and 40 points in three of his last four contests, hinting at a return to the level of consistency he typically exhibits.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Fills up defensive categories
Nurkic tallied 21 points (7-13 FG, 7-8 FT), 14 rebounds, four blocks and three steals and one assist across 35 minutes in Wednesday's 126-117 loss to the Lakers.
The block and steal totals were both season highs for Nurkic, who supplemented the strong defensive production with another strong showing from the free-throw line. Nurkic's improvement from the charity stripe has been an early boon to his fantasy value, as the Bosnian big man is currently converting at an 80.6 percent rate for the season, nearly 18 points above his career mark. Even if some slight regression comes with his efficiency from the line and the field -- where he's also converting at a career-best 52.5 percent clip -- Nurkic would remain on track to deliver the best fantasy season of his five-year career.... Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Shakes off injury to deliver big line
Lillard (knee) tallied 31 points (8-23 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 12-13 FT), 11 assists, eight rebounds and one block across 38 minutes in Wednesday's 126-117 loss to the Lakers.
The poor efficiency from the field and downtown notwithstanding, Lillard turned in a stellar all-around performance despite nursing a minor right ankle injury coming into the night. The fact that coach Terry Stotts was comfortable handing Lillard his normal minutes load suggests there shouldn't be much concern about the point guard's health outlook heading into Friday's game in Minnesota. The big outing ended a relative down period for Lillard, who had averaged 18.8 points, 6.0 assists and 5.0 rebounds per game over the Trail Blazers' prior four contests.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Seth Curry: Won't return Wednesday
Curry left Wednesday's game against the Lakers with a right knee injury and will not return, Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports.
Curry was forced to exit in the first half of Wednesday's game against the Lakers. The severity of his injury is unknown at this time, and more information will likely come out at the conclusion of Wednesday's game. At this time, he should be considered questionable for Friday's game against the Timberwolves.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Set to play Wednesday
Lillard (knee) said he will play in Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
Lillard has been labeled as probable heading into the night before confirming his availability in a pregame interview. While the Blazers could err on the side of caution and hold Lillard out if he's not quite moving around at 100 percent during warmups, all signs are pointing to him starting and playing his normal minutes Wednesday.... Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Expected to play Wednesday
Lillard is expected to play in Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Lillard didn't practice Tuesday due to a right knee injury, but appears to be all good heading into Wednesday's night game. Although this is a good sign, a final decision on Lillard's availability will likely be made closer to tipoff.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Maurice Harkless: Will not play Wednesday
Harkless (knee) has been ruled out for Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Casey Holdahl of the Trail Blazers' official site reports.
This will mark the ninth straight absence for Harkless and he remains without a timetable for a return. Jake Laymen will continue starting at small forward.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Hopeful to play Wednesday
Lillard didn't practice Tuesday due to a right knee injury and will be a game-time decision for Wednesday's game against the Lakers, Mike Richman of The Oregonian reports.
Lillard appeared to suffer a minor knee injury during Sunday's contest, although he managed to play through the issue. He rehabbed his knee for nearly four hours Monday and is optimistic about his chances of taking the court in Portland's upcoming tilt, although a final decision on his availability likely won't come until closer to tipoff.... Trail Blazers' Seth Curry: Leads bench in scoring
Curry poured in nine points (3-5 FG, 3-4 3Pt) and added two assists across 20 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 100-94 win over the Celtics on Sunday.
Curry found his long-distance shot Sunday, leading the second unit in scoring courtesy of his trio of treys. The fifth-year veteran has had some trouble knocking off the rust after missing all of last season, but he's encouragingly shooting 50.0 percent from behind the arc through six November contests. As he demonstrated during the 2016-17 campaign in Dallas, Curry is capable of providing plenty of offense if he can rediscover his shot on a consistent basis.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Al-Farouq Aminu: Hits key threes in win
Aminu went for 11 points (3-8 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 2-4 FT), nine rebounds and two steals across 30 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 100-94 win over the Celtics on Sunday.
Aminu exclusively hit from long distance Sunday, but his buckets came at particularly crucial moments. The veteran floor-spacer drained a 26-footer with 2:34 remaining after the Celtics had closed their deficit to two points, and he then extended Portland's lead back out to six points with a 25-footer with a minute left in the contest. Aminu's scoring contributions tend to fluctuate, but he now has back-to-back 11-point efforts and has hauled in between six and 13 rebounds in all six November contests.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' C.J. McCollum: Supplemental offensive contributions in win
McCollum pitched in 14 points (6-15 FG, 1-6 3Pt, 1-1 FT), two rebounds, one assist and one block across 35 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 100-94 win over the Celtics on Sunday.
McCollum's line was a bit more scoring-dependent than usual, but he still managed to post his fifth straight double-digit point tally. Sunday's game aside, the 27-year-old has been more active than ever on the boards this season, averaging a career-high 4.1 rebounds. McCollum has also encouragingly upped his shooting percentage from last season's 44.3 percent to 45.1 percent through the first 13 games of the current campaign, making it a solid fantasy season thus far.... Trail Blazers' Jusuf Nurkic: Massive double-double in Sunday's win
Nurkic posted 18 points (8-14 FG, 2-2 FT), 17 rebounds and three assists across 28 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 100-94 win over the Celtics on Sunday.
Nurkic dominated the boards throughout the contest, working around some foul trouble to post his second-highest rebounding figure of the season. The 24-year-old already has a trio of double-doubles over his first six November games, and after a couple of single-digit point tallies in October, he's remained consistent on the scoring front thus far in the current month. Factoring in Sunday's production, Nurkic is averaging an impressive 16.5 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.2 blocks over his last six contests.... See More ... See Less
Trail Blazers' Damian Lillard: Shines as facilitator in win
Lillard generated 19 points (7-15 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 3-3 FT), 12 assists and five rebounds across 35 minutes in the Trail Blazers' 100-94 win over the Celtics on Sunday.
Lillard's assist total represented a season high, and he also managed to bump up his shooting percentage for the second straight game after a pair of contests with sub-40.0 percent tallies. The 28-year-old has also drained multiple threes in five of his first six November tilts and continues to boast career bests in shooting percentage (46.5), free-throw percentage (94.0) and rebounds (5.0) through his first 13 games....
