Top Spurs News

  • Spurs' Jakob Poeltl: Likely to play Monday

Poeltl (ankle) is probable for Monday's game against the Kings, Tom Osborn of the San Antonio Express-News reports.

Poeltl was held out Saturday against the Rockets because of a sprained right ankle but he should be ready to roll for Monday. He'll remain in a bench role if he does indeed take the court.

  • Spurs' Rudy Gay: Probable for Monday

Gay (heel) is listed as probable for Monday's game against the Kings, Paul Garcia of ProjectSpurs.com reports.

Gay has been sidelined for the last three games with right heel soreness, but it looks like he's in line to return to the rotation in Sacramento. It remains to be seen whether Gay will return to the starting lineup, as Derrick White's return from injury has cauased a switch up with the starters, but it likely means reduced roles for both Dante Cunningham and Davis Bertans regardless.

  • Spurs' Pau Gasol: Unlikely to play on three-game road trip

Gasol (foot) isn't expected to join the Spurs for their three-game road trip that begins Monday in Sacramento, Jabari Young of The Athletic reports.

Gasol was sidelined for the second straight game Saturday during the Spurs' win over the Rockets and was spotted on the sideline donning a walking boot. The Spurs continue to limit Gasol's injury merely as "soreness," but the walking boot coupled with expected absence for the next three contests implies something more significant could be hindering him. In any case, Gasol's expected absence through at least the Spurs' Nov. 18 home game against the Warriors should open up more minutes at center for LaMarcus Aldridge, Chimezie Metu and -- if healthy -- Jakob Poeltl (ankle).

  • Spurs' Derrick White: Impressive in second start

White totaled 14 points (4-9 FG. 1-2 3Pt, 5-6 FT), eight assists, four rebounds, and two steals in 29 minutes during Saturday's 96-89 victory over the Rockets.

White was excellent in his second game since returning from a heel injury. He finds himself in an excellent position and looks set for a breakout season. He demonstrated the ability to score the ball during his time in summer league and can contribute in a number of areas giving him some tasty upside. If he was dropped after his first-up stinker or still remains on waivers, go ahead and get him on your roster.

  • Spurs' DeMar DeRozan: Pulls down 11 boards in victory Saturday

DeRozan had 13 points (5-12 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 3-4 FT), 11 rebounds, and three assists in 39 minutes during Saturday's 96-89 victory over Houston.

DeRozan was quiet from the field Saturday but managed to contribute 11 rebounds in the hard-fought victory. Derrick White was very good in this performance and appears as though he could take some of the shine off of DeRozan's passing game. That being said, DeRozan should still be able to maintain top 40 value moving forward without too much trouble.

  • Spurs' LaMarcus Aldridge: Big double-double Saturday

Aldridge finished with 27 points 10-21 FG, 7-8 FT), 10 rebounds, one assist, and one block in 35 minutes during Saturday's 96-89 victory over the Rockets.

The Spurs got the better of their Texas rivals Saturday, led by Aldridge's 27 points to go with 10 rebounds. He continues to have himself a very solid season, having formed a nice combination with DeMar DeRozan. He does not bring the defensive stats of some of the more talked about big men but is consistent with his production and very good at what he does best.

Metu was recalled from the Austin Spurs of the G League on Friday.

The move is fairly surprising, as Metu was just assigned to Austin on Thursday and was expected to be available for the team's game against Northern Arizona on Friday. It's unclear whether the team will send him back down again before tip-off or not.
