Kings' De'Aaron Fox: Mixed bag in Monday's win
Fox managed just six points (1-10 FG, 0-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT) but added 13 assists and three rebounds across 35 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Fox equaled a low-water mark in points on a season-worst 10.0 percent shooting, but he helped make for it by setting up his teammates for plenty of scoring opportunities. The second-year guard's sudden offensive downturn was completely unforeseen, considering he'd shot 42.9 percent or better in 12 straight games. Despite the clunker, Fox's season-high assist total was a sign he can keep his head in the game even when things aren't going well in other aspects, certainly an encouraging sign for fantasy owners who've been benefiting from his considerable improvement thus far this season.... Kings' Willie Cauley-Stein: Rebounds with near double-double
Cauley-Stein went for nine points (4-14 FG, 1-2 FT), 14 rebounds and five assists across 31 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Coming off a ragged night over 18 minutes against the Rockets on Saturday, Cauley-Stein bounced back with a season-high rebound total. However, his shot was still lacking, and the fourth-year big man is now just 5-for-23 from the floor over the last pair of contests. The slump is clearly an outlier, considering Cauley-Stein had failed to score in double digits just once prior to his current stretch, and he'd shot no less than 40.0 percent in any other game this season prior to the last two. He'll look fully regain his offensive form against the Jazz on Wednesday.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Nemanja Bjelica: Solid in complementary role
Bjelica registered 12 points (5-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt), eight rebounds, one assist and one steal across 23 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Bjelica was less involved on offense than some of his other first-unit teammates, but he still managed a solid stat line overall. The 30-year-old continues to split time fairly evenly with second overall pick Marvin Bagley, and he's been outproduced by his rookie teammate at times. Nevertheless, Bjelica continues to be locked into a starting role for the moment, and while his scoring sees a fair share of fluctuation, he's now hauled in between six and eight rebounds in five of his last six contests.... Kings' Marvin Bagley: First career double-double
Bagley posted 15 points (6-11 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 3-6 FT), 13 rebounds two assists and three blocks across 26 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Bagley continues to thrive in his bench role, one that often affords him more minutes than starter Nemanja Bjelica. The rookie now has six double-digit scoring efforts in November, although Monday marked his first career double-double. Given his solid role and strong work across the stat sheet, he remains a viable fantasy option in all formats and still projects to ascend to the starting five at some point in the season.... Kings' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Continues contributing off bench
Bogdanovic generated 16 points (6-13 FG, 4-9 3Pt), five rebounds and three assists across 25 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Bogdanovic came off the bench for the sixth time in as many games this season, although his minutes totals continue to remain at 20 or higher. The 26-year-old sharpshooter has encouragingly played in five straight contests without any time off, a sign that he's likely ready to roll back into the starting five at any point moving forward. Bogdanovic's shot seems to already be in mid-season form as well, as he's posted four consecutive double-digit scoring efforts while posting success rates of between 46.2 and 54.5 percent in those contests.... Kings' Iman Shumpert: Atypical offensive outburst in win
Shumpert pitched in 23 points (9-18 FG, 4-11 3Pt, 1-1 FT), three rebounds and four steals across 30 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
It's the second time this season that Shumpert pops off for 20-plus points, but it's still rather surprising to see the defensive-minded veteran making significant offensive contributions. Shumpert's shot attempts were a season high, as were his four steals. The 28-year-old's fruitful fantasy night aside, it's difficult to trust his scoring production in a game-to-game basis, considering he's tallied single-digit point totals in six of nine November contests.... Kings' Buddy Hield: Spearheads high-scoring win
Hield contributed 25 points (9-18 FG, 5-10 3Pt, 2-2 FT), four rebounds and two assists across 35 minutes in the Kings' 117-113 win over the Thunder on Monday.
Hield took over the game late, draining threes on three straight fourth-quarter possessions to help stave off an attempted Thunder comeback. The third-year wing has bounced back from a slight scoring downturn to eclipse the 20-point mark in consecutive contests for the first time since Nov. 1, and he's shot 53.2 percent (25-for-47) over his last three games, including 50.0 percent (10-for-20) from three-point range. Given his ability to supplement his typically strong shooting with solid work in both rebounds and assists, Hield remains one of the highest-upside assets in an extremely fast-paced Kings attack.... Kings' Ben McLemore: Will not play Monday
McLemore (personal) has been ruled out of Monday's game agianst the Thunder, Jason Jones of The Athletic reports.
McLemore will miss his second consecutive game for personal reasons. He wasn't playing much prior to the absence, so this shouldn't affect the rotation. His next opportunity to see the court would be Wednesday against the Jazz, and he should be considered questionable for that contest.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Kosta Koufos: Remains out Monday
Koufos (calf) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Thunder, James Ham of NBC Sports Bay Area report
Koufos will remain sidelined for a fourth consecutive game as he continues to deal with a sore right calf. Harry Giles will remain a candidate to see increased run with Koufos out.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Marvin Bagley: Excels in bench role with 16 points
Bagley recorded 16 points (7-10 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds, an assist and a blocked shot across 27 minutes in Saturday's 132-112 loss to the Rockets.
Bagley took on a larger role on Saturday due to Willie Cauley-Stein's ice-cold night on the floor. The Kings lack a true center beyond Cauley-Stein, so more often than not it is Bagley who will be called upon to play the five in the second unit. Bagley would have to be a lot more explosive to win the job under center, but the rookie should gradually see more minutes as a hybrid four/five player.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Willie Cauley-Stein: Posts dreadful night in loss
Cauley-Stein logged three points (1-9 FG, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, three assists and a blocked shot across 18 minutes in Saturday's 132-112 loss to the Rockets.
Cauley-Stein had an awful night on Saturday and was benched in favor of Marvin Bagley down the stretch. It's a surprising regression from the King's starting center. His improvement is evident in his numbers this season, and he's fared well against some of the league's best big men. His job isn't in any danger at this point, but he'll face another tough test against Steven Adams and the Thunder on Monday.... See More ... See Less
Kings' De'Aaron Fox: Puts up 19 points in loss
Fox posted 19 points (8-14 FG, 2-4 3 Pt, 1-1 FT), three assists, a rebound and a steal across 25 minutes in Saturday's 132-112 loss to the Rockets.
Fox has established himself as one of the breakout players in the Western Conference in his sophomore season and has a firm on hold on the starting gig as the Kings' floor general. He shot well but only collected three assists on the night, which is well below his season average. Fox will continue to produce, but the Kings were simply outmatched on Saturday.... See More ... Kings' Buddy Hield: Scores team-high 23 points in loss
Hield recorded 23 points (10-17 FG, 3-6 3Pt), seven rebounds, two assists, and a steal across 30 minutes in Saturday's 132-112 loss to the Rockets.
Hield has been a pleasant surprise for the Kings this season, and he led the team in scoring once again on Saturday. He's put up double-digit points in all but one game this season, and he's on pace for career-highs in every major category.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Ben McLemore: Not with team Saturday
McLemore is not with the Kings due to personal reasons for Saturday's contest against the Rockets, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
It's not clear if McLemore will be out for just one game or for an extended period. That said, he hasn't been in the rotation recently, last playing Nov. 1 against the Hawks.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Not on injury report
Bogdanovic is not on the Kings' injury report, suggesting he'll play Saturday against Rockets on the second night of a back-to-back.
No real news here, but Bogdanovic was held out of one half of the Kings' last back-to-back, so it's a positive indication that the team doesn't feel it's necessary to hold him out again Saturday. Bogdanovic has played 20, 24 and 25 minutes in his last three games, respectively, and he's coming off of a 12-point, two-rebound, two-assist performance Friday in Memphis.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Kosta Koufos: Out Saturday
Koufos (calf) is out Saturday against the Rockets, Jason Anderson of The Sacramento Bee reports.
A sore right calf will sideline Koufos for a third straight game. In his stead, Harry Giles remains a candidate to see additional minutes.... See More ... See Less
Kings' Bogdan Bogdanovic: Plays 23 minutes Friday
Bogdanovic totaled 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-4 3Pt), two rebounds, two assists, and one steal in 23 minutes during Friday's 112-104 loss to the Grizzlies.
Bogdanovic continues to work his way back from offseason knee surgery, scoring 12 points in 22 minutes. That makes back-to-back double-digit games for Bogdanovic who has also exceeded 20 minutes in both those outings. The Kings travel to Houston to face the Rockets on Saturday and Bogdanovic should be considered questionable given the back-to-back set.... See More ... See Less
