Rockets' Markel Brown: Leads bench in scoring during SL loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Brown pitched in 10 points (1-5 FG, 0-4 3Pt, 8-10 FT) and three rebounds across 18 minutes during the Rockets' 92-87 loss to the Cavaliers in a Las Vegas Summer League contest Saturday.

To his credit, Brown didn't let his shooting struggles deter him, as he remained aggressive enough to log a team-high number of visits to the charity stripe. The fourth-year guard saw action in 109 games with the Nets over his first two pro seasons before suiting up for only four with the Rockets last year. He's shown the ability for the occasional offensive outburst in the past, and he thrived in G-League play last year with 16.8 points (on 44.7 percent shooting), 4.5 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals across 31.9 minutes over 31 games (27 starts). It remains to be seen if he'll garner an opportunity to continue making his case for a roster spot in training camp.

Rockets' De'Anthony Melton: Double-doubles in SL loss
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Melton mustered 16 points (5-17 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 4-6 FT), 10 rebounds, seven assists, four steals and one block across 29 minutes during the Rockets' 92-87 loss to the Cavaliers in a Las Vegas Summer League contest Saturday.

The 20-year-old has staked his claim for additional opportunity this fall with an excellent body of work in Las Vegas. Factoring in Saturday's production, he compiled averages of 16.4 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.0 steals across 30.0 minutes over five games. While his shot was far from sharp Saturday, Melton continued to turn in excellent work on the glass, as a facilitator and on defense, propping up his final line considerably.

Rockets' Danuel House: Tallies game-high scoring total Saturday
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

House registered 30 points (10-20 FG, 5-11 3Pt, 5-8 FT), six rebounds, three assists and three steals across 29 minutes during the Rockets' 92-87 loss to the Cavaliers in a Las Vegas Summer League contest Saturday.

House's offensive haul led all players on the afternoon, as his shot was sharp from all over the court. The 25-year-old saw the first appreciable run of his NBA career in the 2017-18 campaign with the Suns, posting averages of 6.6 points, 3.3 rebounds and 1.1 assists across 17.5 minutes over 23 games. House subsequently made a strong impression in Las Vegas, posting averages of 16.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steal across 27.0 minutes over five contests. At minimum, his body of work could be enough to earn a training camp invite, but that remains to be seen.

Rockets' Zhou Qi: Out with strained calf
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

Qi is out for Saturday's summer league game due to a strained left calf, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.

There's no indication the injury is serious, but there's little reason to push the second-year player for a summer league game. He'll likely end up playing much of the year in the G-League again.

Rockets' Danuel House: All-around box filler in victory
by RotoWire Staff | RotoWire

House tallied 18 points (7-19 FG, 2-9 3Pt, 2-4 FT), eight rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal in 31 minutes during Wednesday's 109-102 victory over the Rockets.

House started at small forward Wednesday, finishing with 18 points and a full state line. After some nice flashes last season playing for the Suns, House is going to face a big challenge even making the Rockets roster. The team has offloaded both Trevor Ariza and Luc Mbah Moute leaving a glimmer of hope for House, albeit, a very faint glimmer.
