Roster · Getting inside · Notes, quotes

Stromile Swift is close to rejoining the team after tending to family issues.

Starters -- Point guard Devin Harris, Shooting guard Vince Carter, Small forward Bobby Simmons, Power forward Ryan Anderson, Center Brook Lopez. Bench -- Guard Keyon Dooling, Forward Eduardo Najera, Center Josh Boone, Forward Jarvis Hayes.

--G Vince Carter, who shot 1-of-10 Wednesday in Boston where he suffered an ankle injury, was 4-of-14 Thursday for a two-game total of 5-of-24. Carter refused to blame the ankle for Thursday's shortcomings. "If I step on the court, I have to play. I can't use it as an excuse," Carter said. "Just not hitting shots."

--G Keyon Dooling registered his fourth straight double figure scoring game Thursday in a 105-99 home loss to Portland. In the five games, Dooling has averaged 13.3 points. He's averaging 9.5 overall.

--C Brook Lopez responded from his 4-of-14 struggle against Boston's smothering defense with a 7-of-10 shooting, 17-point effort Thursday. But his offense is not where coach Lawrence Frank is looking for more immediate improvement. "Brook made some good contributions. The challenge for Brook is defensively to continue to impact the game," Frank said. "The bigger players in this league, you're constantly put in pick-and-rolls. He's got to continue to raise the level."

--F Yi Jianlian is out for up to five more weeks with a broken right pinkie.
