--F Damion James has had a rough rookie season. When he got his first start, on Dec. 9 in Dallas, he suffered a broken foot. He was out for more than two months. He returned, started again and was floored by a concussion when the team went to London in early March. While being examined there, doctors found he was having problems again with his right foot. So on Monday, James sat down because of the foot pain and will be re-examined. "We're a little bit concerned by the soreness and tenderness in that area," coach Avery Johnson said of James' foot.
--G Sundiata Gaines scored a career-high 18 points Monday in a loss to Indiana. "We lost. To me, it's pointless. I'd rather have a win than the career high," said Gaines, who over the weekend signed to a multi-year deal that will keep him in New Jersey through next season. Gaines suffered a "stinger" in his neck late in the game but said he was fine.
--G Ben Uzoh is being recalled from the Springfield Armor of the D-League because the Nets are suddenly shorthanded at point guard with Deron Williams out. "He's scored the ball, rebounded, passed it well, played good defense. Just what we wanted," coach Avery Johnson said of the undrafted rookie's time in the D-League. "We felt it was time to get Uzoh back."
--Forward Damion James (sore right foot) again is experiencing problems with the right foot he broke in December. James had returned but so did some pain, so he sat Monday and is not expected to play Wednesday.
--Guard Deron Williams (strained right wrist tendon) sat a second straight game Monday. He is scheduled to miss Wednesday's game and then will be re-evaluated.
--Forward Quinton Ross (lower back strain) has not played since Feb. 25. The Nets are hopeful he can play Friday.
