--Year after year, it seems the Spurs' defense tightens as the season grows shorter. This season that simply isn't happening. Friday's game at Houston marked the fifth time in six games that the Spurs' opponent has scored at least 100 points. The Rockets had 108 at the end of regulation. It also was the 10th time during the month of March that the Spurs allowed at least 100 points.
--The Spurs' current six-game losing skid is one of the seven longest losing streaks of coach Gregg Popovich's coaching tenure and the longest since a six-game losing streak in the final games before Tim Duncan was drafted in 1997. That was also Popovich's first season and he had a seven-game skid that season as well. According to the San Antonio Express-News, which garnered information from the Elias Sports Bureau, San Antonio had been the only team in the league without at least one five-game losing streak over those 14 seasons. Every other NBA team has had no fewer than six separate five-game losing streaks over that span.
QUOTE TO NOTE
"In my mind, that may be the best win we've had all year." -- Rockets coach Rick Adelman, on handing the Spurs their sixth consecutive loss Friday night in Houston.
