03/09/2012 - The rain held off long enough this year to complete the UM Pro Day on the first try, and the former UM athletes left it all on the field and in the weight room for the 66 NFL and CFL scouts present at the Hecht Athletic Center and Greentree Practice Fields. In addition to the front office attendees from the NFL, the pro day was filled with current pros who returned to their alma mater. The list includes Jimmy Graham, Reggie Wayne, Lamar Thomas, Santana Moss, Antrel Rolle, Matt Bosher, Orlando Franklin, Richard Gordon, Cory Nelms, Graig Cooper and DeMarcus Van Dyke. Lee Chambers had the highest vertical of all the UM athletes at 40.5 inches. Ben Bruneau was close behind with a 39.5 inch jump. Adewale Ojomo had the highest jump from the linemen with a 31.5 inch jump. Joel Figueroa was the lone athlete to break the 30 rep mark with 32 reps of 225 pounds. The closest mark was 28 reps, which were completed by Harland Gunn. Leading the non-linemen was Miles Levine, who raised the bar 25 times. Three Former Hurricanes broke the 4.5 second barrier, led by Lee Chamber's quick 4.41. LaRon Byrd was next in with a 4.46, followed by Ben Bruneau's 4.49. Olivier Vernon opted to participate in only the 40 today after attending the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, and was rewarded with a quick 4.68 time for a lineman. - Miami football
