08/09/2012 - Wracked by injuries during his Mizzou career, the senior linebacker has immersed himself in a training regimen designed specifically to strengthen muscles that might have played a role in previous ailments. "When you get injured, certain muscles compensate for each other and it creates weaknesses in your body," Ebner said. "We concentrated on finding those weaknesses and isolating those muscles a little more, doing extra work to strengthen those and even the body back out." Ebner will start at middle linebacker this year after missing all of 2011 with a high ankle sprain and concussion. He has had surgery on a foot, knee and shoulder during his stay in Columbia and endured other woes that have kept him from playing a full schedule since his freshman year. His experience is a huge boost to the Mizzou defense, which will benefit greatly if Ebner can navigate the season without anything more than the "nicks and bruises" he has reported in training camp. "It would be nice to see that happen," coach Gary Pinkel said. "He's playing well. He feels good. You just hope he can do it. I've seen that happen where a guy's snakebit and all of a sudden he's fine. The good news is he fought through it. He didn't have to come back." Pinkel compares Ebner's journey to that of former Mizzou linebacker Luke Lambert, who had two seasons wiped out by injuries before finishing second on the team in tackles a year ago. Ebner hopes that his specialized weight training and a little good fortune will allow for a similar story. - Stu Durando, The St. Louis Post-Dispatch

10/10/2011 - Missouri (2-3) is under .500 for the first time since Nov. 6, 2004. In that year, Missouri lost to Kansas State to fall under that mark, and the Tigers finished at 5-6. This is the first time the Tigers have a 2-3 record since Gary Pinkel's first year as head coach in 2001. RB De'Vion Moore (high-ankle sprain) traveled and dressed for the game, but he did not play. LB Will Ebner (high ankle sprain) missed his fourth consecutive game. - The Sports Xchange

10/10/2011 - Missouri is considering redshirting linebacker Will Ebner, sidelined by a high ankle sprain in the opener, and will appeal for a medical redshirt for offensive tackle Elvis Fisher. Coach Gary Pinkel said Monday it would be a couple weeks before Ebner would be able to return. Fisher ruptured the patellar tendon in his left knee during preseason workouts. Guard Austin Wuebbels (sprained shoulder) is questionable for Saturday's game against Iowa State. Pinkel said tailbacks Kendial Lawrence (leg) and De'Vion Moore (ankle) are back to full health. Lawrence had 5 yards on six carries in last week's loss at Kansas State. Moore dressed but did not play. - AP Sports
