12/19/2011 - 2011 ALL-BIG EAST CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): LB Dexter Heyman, Louisville, Sr., has been selected All-BIG EAST Conference Second Team for the 2011 college football season as chosen by the league's eight head coaches. Senior linebacker Dexter Heyman (Louisville, Ky.) was named to the All-BIG EAST second team on defense. The team's leading tackler, Heyman started all 12 games at middle linebacker for the Cardinals. Heyman recorded 83 tackles and a team-best 15.5 tackles for loss, which ranks third in the BIG EAST. A product of Male High School, Heyman also recorded a team-high three interceptions. - Louisville football

11/22/2011 - WEEK 12 BIG EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Louisville linebacker Dexter Heyman, who was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week, had seven tackles, including a sack and 3.5 tackles for loss, along with an interception to lead Louisville to a 34-20 win against Connecticut, lifting the Cardinals into a tie for first place in the BIG EAST standings. Heyman led a defense that limited the Huskies to just 76 rushing yards, helping the Cardinals to their fourth win in their last five games and making Louisville bowl-eligible for the second consecutive season. - BIG EAST football

10/21/2011 - Chris Philpott tied a school record with a 52-yard field goal, and Teddy Bridgewater threw a touchdown pass in the third quarter as Louisville beat Rutgers 16-14 Friday night, snapping a three-game skid. Louisville (3-4, 1-1 Big East) also capped a week in which coach Charlie Strong signed a new contract. The Cardinals picked off three passes, ending Rutgers' first two drives and Dexter Heyman picked off Gary Nova with 1:41 left to preserve the victory. Jeremy Wright ran for a career-high 108 yards on just 11 carries, the first Cardinals running back to top 100 yards this season. Dominique Brown also ran for a TD. 10/05/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: MLB Dexter Heyman leads the team in tackles, but had an off night against Marshall with just four stops. If the senior hopes to make the most of the final year of his college career, he can't afford any more missing-in-action performances like that one. Heyman was credited with 0.5 tackles behind the line of scrimmage last weekend. It's the eighth game in a row he's been involved in a tackle for a loss, the longest streak since Chris Campa went for 10 in a row at the end of the 2009 season. - The Sports Xchange

09/19/2011 - WEEK 3 BIG EAST DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Louisville linebacker Dexter Heyman, the defensive player of the week, was named the Howard Schnellenberger MVP of the annual Governor's Cup matchup between Louisville and Kentucky after he had 12 tackles, two tackles for loss and a fumble recovery in the Cardinals' 24-17 win in Lexington. Heyman keyed a Louisville defense that limited Kentucky to just 35 rushing yards. - BIG EAST football
