09/07/2012 - SCOUTING THE DEFENSE: Volunteer defensive backs combined for four interceptions last week against N.C. State. Tennessee had only nine interceptions last season. Tennessee was fantastic against the run in the first half, limiting the Wolfpack to 30 net yards. Tennessee recorded a safety against N.C. State, the Vols' first since making a tackle in the end zone in the 2010 opener against Tennessee-Martin. PLAYERS TO WATCH: LB Herman Lathers -- The fifth-year senior is the emotional leader of the Tennessee defense, but he injured his shoulder in the second half of the season-opening win over N.C.
