After catching 100 passes in his junior year, Hoffman has had a season to forget, missing an opening game loss at Virginia with a hamstring pull and last week's win over Middle Tennessee because of a violation of team rules. 09/27/2013 - BYU receiver Cody Hoffman sat out the Cougars' game Friday night against Middle Tennessee after being suspended for violating a team rule. BYU coach Bronco Mendenhall didn't provide details in announcing the one-game suspension. The senior receiver leads the Cougars in receiving with 171 yards on 10 receptions in two games. Hoffman missing the team's season-opening loss to Virginia because of a hamstring injury.

Hoffman leads all active FBS receivers in career receiving touchdowns with 28 and ranks third among active receivers in career receptions with 213 and career receiving yardage with 2,889. He is the second high-profile player to be suspended in two weeks. Starting linebacker Spencer Hadley was suspended for five games before last week's loss to Utah after violating the school's honor code. - AP Sports

09/09/2013 - BYU welcomed back WR Cody Hoffman, who missed the Cougars opener with a sore hamstring. The 6-foot-4 senior, who had 100 receptions last year, caught two balls for 63 yards on Saturday as the Cougars passing attack continued to sputter. His 31-yard reception sparked a 79-yard scoring drive in the third quarter which gave BYU a commanding 34-14 lead. - The Sports Xchange

09/06/2013 - BYU was without wide receiver Cody Hoffman (hamstring) in the Cougars loss at Virginia. Hoffman who caught 100 passes last year for 1,248 yards and 11 touchdowns, was hurt in practice late last week, but wasn't declared out until pregame warmups. "Cody Hoffman would have been a welcomed piece of the puzzle," BYU offensive coordinator Robert Anae said. "There's that, 'Man, who are we going to lean on when things get really tight' [thing]." The 6-foot-4, 215-pound native of Crescent City, Calif., enters his final season needing 19 receptions, 538 receiving yards and three receiving touchdowns to become BYU's all-time leader in each category.
