12/17/2011 - Scouting the San Diego State special teams: P Brian Stahovich has been one of the best in the Mountain West, averaging 43.4 yards per punt. Over a quarter of his attempts have gone for more than 50 yards. SDSU has a pair of dangerous KRs in Colin Lockett and Brandon Davis, both of whom have a return for a TD under their belts. The Aztecs are average on punt return, but their Achilles' Heel this season has been their kicking game with Abelardo Perez. Perez is just 5-for-13 on the season, and 2-for-8 beyond 30 yards with two blocked attempts. - The Sports Xchange

12/10/2011 - 2011 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM (COACHES): P Brian Stahovich, Sr., San Diego State, has been selected All-Mountain West Conference First Team for the 2011 college football season as voted on by the eight head coaches and select media panel. Stahovich was named to the first team for the second consecutive season after being picked as a second-team honoree in 2009. No other punter in school history has been named a first-team all-league selection twice over their career. This year, Stahovich ranks 24th in the nation in punting with a 43.37 average. Seventeen of his 57 punts have been inside the 20 and 23 have been fair caught. Only 13 of the 57 punts have been returned. - San Diego State football

09/21/2011 - PLAYERS TO WATCH: P Brian Stahovich looms large in Saturday's game because of his ability to pin back the Aztecs' opponents. Seven of his 16 punts have landed inside the opponents' 20, and that'll force Michigan to have to embark on long drives. Robinson might be able to make a big play or two, but if the Wolverines are pinned back, those big plays might get them only to midfield, where the Aztecs defense still has a chance to force Michigan into punting the football. - The Sports Xchange

09/12/2011 - MOUNTAIN WEST WEEK 2 SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brian Stahovich, San Diego State, Senior, Punter, dropped four of his five punts inside the 20-yard line and recorded a pair of kicks exceeding 50 yards in the Aztecs' 23-20 win at Army. Stahovich's 59-yard punt in the first half was a season-long and marked the second-longest kick in the Mountain West in 2011. Of Stahovich's four punts inside the 20-yard line, three of them came to rest inside the 12-yard line and three were not returned, helping SDSU limit Army to an average field position of its own 21-yard line. With his effort on Saturday, Stahovich moved from 38th to 15th nationally in punting and from third to first in the Mountain West with a 44.8 average. - Mountain West football

08/11/2011 - 2011 PRESEASON ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST FOOTBALL TEAM (MEDIA): P Brian Stahovich, Sr., San Diego State, has been selected to the Preseason All-Mountain West Team for the 2011 college football season as selected by members of the Mountain West Conference media. Stahovich, a first-team all-conference selection a year a go, led the Mountain West and ranked eighth nationally in punting as a junior with a 45.4 yard average. He is a two-time nominee for the Ray Guy Award (top punter) and has 41 career punts of 50 yards or more, including a school-record 89-yard punt last season in the victory at Wyoming. - San Diego State football
