08/03/2012 - 2012 PRESEASON MISSOURI VALLEY FOOTBALL TEAM (COACHES/SIDS): LB-Evan Frierson, ILS, Sr., has been selected Preseason All-Missouri Valley Football First Team for the 2012 college football season as selected by the MVC head coaches, sports information directors & select media. Frierson made an immediate impact on the Redbird defense and started 10 games at outside linebacker for ISU, which led the conference in total defense (294.8 ypg) in 2011. The Washington, D.C., native was named a First-Team All-MVFC and All-Newcomer Team selection and led the team and was second in the Valley with 15 tackles-for-loss and ranked second on the team with 66 tackles and 6.5 sacks. Frierson was also selected as a 2012 third-team preseason All-American by College Sporting News. - Illinois State football

10/18/2011 - OCT 17 MISSOURI VALLEY NEWCOMER OF THE WEEK: LB Evan Frierson, Illinois State, led the way for the Redbird defense that allowed #14 South Dakota just 108 yards of total offense in the team's 28-3 win Saturday at Hancock Stadium. He set career highs with three sacks and four tackles-for-loss against the Coyotes and finished the game with a team-leading eight tackles, including seven solo stops. Frierson and the rest of the Redbirds allowed just three yards rushing and 10 yards total to USD in the second half and quarterback Dante Warren completed just five passes during the game while being sacked a total of six times. - Missouri Valley football
