2004 Season

Ranked second on the team with 104 total tackles, including 76 solo efforts … tied for the team lead with four interceptions and finshed second with seven pass breakkups … led all UH defenders with three forced fumbles … one of only nine players to start all 13 games … enjoyed a career day at No. 5 Michigan when he led all players with 14 tackles, including 12 solo stops, and led team with three pass break-ups … made five tackles with three solo stops and forced a fumble at Louisiana-Lafayette … finished second among the Cougars with 10 tackles, including eight solo stops against Mississippi State.

2002 Season

Appeared in all 12 games as a true freshman … was an important part of the Cougar special teams … finished season with three solo tackles … made tackles against TCU, Army and Memphis.

Was a Dave Campbell's Texas Football Lone Star All-Star Team DB finalist … also a Dave Campbell's Texas Football 3A Player-of-the-Year finalist … Websider Top 150 member … ranked #61 DB in nation by Rivals.com … named District MVP as a senior at Newton High School … was a three-time, First-Team, All-District performer at safety … recorded over 160 tackles and 16 interceptions during his last two years … also picked up All-District honors twice for wide receiver … also caught 35 passes for 652 yards and 11 TDs in two years … led Newton to an 11-3 mark as a senior … was the Class 3A state champion in the triple jump.


Born April 20, 1984, in Newton, Texas … son of James and Patricia Gulley of Newton … has a daughter, Jaydah, born July 14, 2002 … also recruited by Texas Tech, Northwestern, Purdue, Louisiana Tech and Iowa … enjoys playing basketball and being with his daughter and family during his spare time … brother Rod Gulley played football at McNeese State and other brother James played basketball at Lamar … majoring in sports administration.
