With the 44th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Rams select tight end Gerald Everett out of South Alabama. It was the Rams' first pick of the draft after they traded down earlier Friday with the Bills.

"After talking Higbee last year, this is an odd pick. They need help on their line and in the secondary."
Jared Goff did not look like a future franchise quarterback -- or an NFL-caliber quarterback, if we're being completely honest -- in his first season with the Rams. But that wasn't entirely on Goff, as he was saddled with a middle-school offense composed of mediocre-at-best playmakers. So, the Rams are going to make sure Goff is better equipped in Year 2.
With their first pick in the 2017 NFL Draft -- remember, they traded away a ton of picks to get Goff last year -- the Rams took Everett, who isn't widely known because he played at South Alabama. But Everett was productive in college. In his past two seasons, he accumulated 90 catches for 1,292 yards (14.4 YPC) and 12 touchdowns.
Goff should be a happy quarterback right about now. First, he got a new coach in Sean McVay, who knows how to lead an offense, and now he got a new weapon.
"New Rams coach Sean McVay did well with tight ends when he was the offensive coordinator in Washington, and he seemed to be excited about Tyler Higbee. That might still be the case, but Everett will make it hard for Higbee to be a sleeper for Fantasy owners now. Everett isn't worth drafting in seasonal Fantasy leagues, but he's a third-round pick in rookie-only leagues." -- Jamey Eisenberg.
