2020 NFL odds, AFC West predictions, best bets: Top model fading Chargers

The Las Vegas Raiders have fallen on hard times, finishing above .500 only once since losing to Tampa Bay in Super Bowl XXXVII after the 2002 campaign. The team was in the playoff hunt after 10 games in 2019, but fell apart down the stretch in its final season in Oakland, losing five of its last six contests. Should you back Las Vegas in the latest NFL odds to win the division?

With a new home and an aggressive effort in the free-agent market, Las Vegas hopes to contend for the AFC West title during the 2020 NFL season. The Raiders are listed at +850 in the latest 2020 NFL odds, while the reigning Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs are -450 favorites in the latest AFC West odds from William Hill. Before making any 2020 NFL picks, be sure to check out the 2020 AFC West predictions and best bets from the proven computer model at SportsLine.

The model's top 2020 AFC West predictions

The model says the Chargers are overvalued at +1000 in the latest 2020 NFL odds to capture the AFC West title and win the division in just 7.2 percent of simulations.

Los Angeles posted a 12-4 record in 2018 and recorded a stunning wild-card victory at Baltimore before losing at New England in the AFC Divisional Round. However, the Chargers were unable to build off that successful season, going 5-11 last year to finish in the AFC West basement. Things don't figure to get much better for the team in 2020, as it parted ways with eight-time Pro-Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers, who signed with Indianapolis after spending his first 16 seasons with the Chargers.

Los Angeles appears to be content to hand the reins to Tyrod Taylor, who has started only 46 games since being selected by Baltimore in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft. The 30-year-old from Virginia Tech made all but three of those starts with Buffalo from 2015 to 2017.

The model also says one AFC West team boasts a win probability that exceeds its implied odds. You can only see who it is, and the percent of the time each team wins the AFC West, right here.
