2020 NFL win totals, odds, predictions, best bets: Proven model picks under 7.5 wins for Falcons
SportsLine's advanced computer model simulated the entire 2020 NFL season 10,000 times.
There still are plenty of questions surrounding the 2020 NFL schedule, like whether fans can attend games due to the coronavirus pandemic. The league is set to kick off Sept. 10 with the reigning Super Bowl-champion Kansas City Chiefs hosting the Houston Texans. Meanwhile, Tom Brady will make his debut with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers when they visit Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints three days later. Which teams should you back with your picks on 2020 NFL win totals?
The Chiefs and Saints will attempt to extend streaks, with Kansas City seeking its sixth season with 10 or more victories and New Orleans looking for its fourth in a row. The Chiefs have a projected win total of 11.5 games in the latest 2020 NFL odds from William Hill, while the Saints are listed at 10.5. Before making any NFL picks on 2020 season-long win totals, be sure to see the latest NFL predictions from SportsLine's proven computer model.
The SportsLine Projection Model simulates every NFL game 10,000 times and has crushed human experts on a consistent basis. Since its 2015 inception, the model is up over $7,000 for $100 players on its top-rated NFL picks.
And when it comes to NFL win totals, the model is coming off another banner year. In 2019, it went 18-11 on its over-under picks, with three pushes.
Now, the model has generated each team's projected win total, and in many cases it's strikingly different than the Vegas line. You can head to SportsLine to see the picks.
The model's top 2020 NFL win total predictions
One of the 2020 NFL picks the model is recommending: Go under 7.5 wins for Atlanta. The Falcons have posted a 7-9 record the last two seasons, and only finished with that mark in 2019 because of a season-ending four-game winning streak.
Duplicating that feat will be very difficult. Five of the team's last seven contests will be against elite quarterbacks. two each versus the players ranked at the top for passing yards and passing touchdowns (Drew Brees and Tom Brady). The Falcons also have one meeting with reigning Super Bowl champion Patrick Mahomes.
The Falcons also must improve their ground attack, as they ranked 30th in the league last season in rushing offense (85.1 yards per game). They attempted to upgrade during the offseason by releasing Devonta Freeman, who had a down year with just 656 yards and two TDs on the ground, and bringing in former NFL Offensive Player of the Year Todd Gurley, who ran for a career-low 857 yards with the Los Angeles Rams in 2019. The model is calling for just 6.8 victories for Atlanta on average.
How to make 2020 NFL win total picks
The model also generated huge disparities on other teams, including the Packers. Green Bay posted 13 wins in coach Matt LaFleur's first season after notching only six in 2018 and won the NFC North for the sixth time in nine years. Oddsmakers set Green Bay's 2020 win total at nine, and the projection model has a strong opinion on the team's fortunes. You can see every projected win total for every team right here.
So which teams sail past their projected 2020 NFL win totals? What is the model's surprising forecast for Green Bay? And how many wins will every single NFL team have this season?
