San Francisco 2011 first-round pick Aldon Smith is recovering from injuries suffered Friday night, general manager Trent Baalke said in a prepared statement.

"The San Francisco 49ers are aware that Aldon Smith incurred minor injuries during an incident last night. We are in contact with Aldon, and thankful that his injuries were not more serious and that he is recovering comfortably. The 49ers are also in communication with local authorities as they gather information regarding the incident, and will reserve further comment at this time."

Via the Sacramento Bee's Matt Barrows, the Santa Clara sherriff's office reported that deputies responded to a house party early Saturday morning after receiving reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, the deputies found two people with gunshot wounds and another the victim of a stabbing. All three were taken to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. Neither the victims' names nor the description of the suspect(s) has been released at this time.

Multiple sources told CSNBayArea.com's Matt Maiocco "that Smith sustained minor stab wounds, most likely from a small pocketknife, while he attempted to break up a fight. The location of the wounds are believed to be in his shoulder and abdomen."

After a fantastic rookie campaign in which Smith registered 14 sacks as a part-time player, he's had a busy offseason. In January, he was charged with DUI, and now he's "incurred minor injuries" at a house party. Smith's set to start at outside linebacker in 2012.
