LSU cornerback Tharold Simon, who some project as a mid-round draft pick this weekend, is contemplating legal action against the Eunice, La., police department following his arrest on Thursday night, according to his agent, Peter Schaffer.

Schaffer said his client is completely innocent of the charges against him -- he was charged with public intimidation and resisting an officer during an incident while he was in his car.

Schaffer said he spent Friday talking to multiple witnesses who were at the scene when the alleged altercation took place, which, according to the police report, included Simon backing up his car "in an aggressive manner," turning up his stereo and exchanging words with an officer.

"I have obtained a written statement from almost 20 witnesses," Schaffer said, "all of whom corroborated Tharold's version of the incident, in which he did absolutely nothing wrong and nothing illegal. I'm 100 percent confident that there will be no charges filed and Tharold will be completely exonerated. I'm looking into the filing of a civil lawsuit against the officer and the Eunice Police Department. Tharold is an outstanding young man, and it's appalling to me that an officer would act this way, particularly at this time."

Simon's draft status could obviously be negatively impacted by such allegations, and Schaffer said he will also circulate this information to teams. Simon's hometown is proclaiming Friday as "Tharold Simon Day."
