Bears DB Kelvin Hayden out for season after tearing hamstring
Bears nickelback Kelvin Hayden is out for the season after tearing his hamstring. Hayden played in all 16 games last season and started in two for the Bears.
Chicago Bears defensive back Kelvin Kayden will miss the 2013 season after suffering a torn hamstring, the team announced on Wednesday.
Hayden's injury actually occurred on Saturday during the team's 'Family Night' practice at Soldier Field.
"Kelvin has worked so hard," safety Chris Conte said, via the Bears official website. "He's been doing a great job, and it's really tough to see him go down like that. I know none of the DB's really expected it to be that serious. To hear he's out for the whole year is kind of shocking."
Hayden saw action in all 16 games for the Bears last season, his first in Chicago. The 30-year-old defensive back came off the bench as the Bears nickelback and also made two starts at corner. Last year marked only the third time in eight seasons that Hayden made it through all 16 regular season games unscathed.
Before joining the Bears, Hayden spent one season in Atlanta and six years in Indianapolis.
Second-year defensive back, Isaiah Frey, has been serving as the Bears nickelback in practice since Hayden went down.
