Week 17 NFL picks for Bears vs. Giants
Before you tune in to Sunday's Giants vs. Bears game, you need to see the NFL picks from SportsLine's advanced computer model. The model, which simulates every NFL game 10,000 times, is up over $7,100 for $100 players on top-rated NFL picks since its inception six-plus years ago. The model enters Week 17 of the 2021 season on an incredible 134-96 run on top-rated NFL picks that dates back to the 2017 season.
The model also ranked in the top 10 on NFLPickWatch four of the past five years on straight-up NFL picks and beat more than 94 percent of CBS Sports Football Pick'em players four times during that span. Anyone who has followed it is way up.
For Bears vs. Giants, the model is backing the Giants to cover on the road. Despite fielding the No. 9 total defense in the NFL so far this season, the Bears rank 24th in scoring defense due in large part to some of the positions that the offense have put them in.
Chicago only converts 34.6 percent of its third downs (29th in the NFL) and the Bears rank 27th in the NFL with 25 turnovers committed. And even when the Bears' offense does effectively move the ball, a combination of inexperience, a porous offensive line and poor play calling has made them extremely ineffective in the red zone. Chicago scores touchdowns on just 48.8 percent of its trips inside the 20-yard line, ranking 30th in the NFL.
Meanwhile, the Giants have serious offensive issues of their own but the defense ranks 13th in the NFL in takeaways and opponents convert third-downs at just a 41.1 percent clip. The model predicts that New York's defense generates three sacks and forces a couple of turnovers on average to help the Giants cover in over 50 percent of simulations.
