The Bengals aren't taking any chances with A.J. Green's left knee.

Green, who injured his knee in practice on July 25 and hasn't practiced since, will likely miss the Bengals Aug. 8 preseason opener against the Falcons.

According to the Bengals official website, Green won't be making the trip to Atlanta next week.

The Bengals are actually heading down to Atlanta a few days before the Aug. 8 game to practice with the Falcons. The Bengals are scheduled to be at Atlanta's training camp headquarters in Flowery Branch, Ga. for two days of practices -- Aug. 5-6 -- before the two teams play the NFL's second preseason game of 2013.

Green isn't the only banged up Bengals wide receiver. Andrew Hawkins suffered a high-ankle sprain during practice on Thursday, an injury that shouldn't keep him out for more than two weeks, according to coach Marvin Lewis.

Second-year receiver Marvin Jones hasn't practiced this week due to an undisclosed injury that he suffered on Sunday, but he is expected to make the trip to Atlanta.

Because the Bengals will need someone to suit up at receiver for the game against the Falcons, the team added free agent wide receiver Jheranie Boyd to the roster on Thursday.
