Bills bench Marcell Dareus for chronic tardiness to team functions
Bills defensive lineman Marcell Dareus is being benched for a half against the Patriots for routinely being late to report to team functions.
Former Bills first-round pick Marcell Dareus, who has struggled to be an impact player, was benched for one quarter last week and is being benched for a half this week against the Patriots. Sources say the punishment is due at least in part to him being routinely late for reporting times and meetings.
Even after last week's discipline, and with the team rewarded for its win over the Dolphins in Week 16 with a later reporting time last Monday, Dareus still was not on time.
He has clashed some with this new regime and has not endeared himself as well as many had expected. The defensive lineman has abundant talent but remains with much to prove at this level.
