The Denver Broncos say cornerback Aqib Talib is "OK" after suffering a gunshot wound to his left leg early Sunday morning at a Dallas nightclub. Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth released a statement from the team indicating Talib was "being treated at a Dallas hospital."

Rebecca Lopez of WFAA in Dallas was the first to report Talib was one of three people shot late at V-line, a Dallas nightclub.

The cornerback, instrumental in helping the Broncos win Super Bowl 50 as part of a historically dominant defense, was taken to Medical City Hospital for treatment.

This isn't the first off-field incident involving guns for the eight-year veteran, who has been named to three Pro Bowls. His problems led to his departure from the Buccaneers, the team that drafted him in the first round in 2008. He was indicted for a 2011 incident where he allegedly pistol-whipped his sister's boyfriend and shot at him. He was later cleared of the charges.

Last year in the offseason, Talib was involved in another Dallas nightclub incident where shots were fired.

It's also less-than-ideal timing for Talib and the Broncos. The team is set to visit the White House on Monday to make what has become a traditional visit with the president for the Super Bowl champions. Brock Osweiler's decision to not attend the White House with his former team drew some terse remarks from Broncos GM John Elway, but Talib's likely absence will make him the most talked-about no-show on Monday.

According to Mike Klis of 9 News, the shooting was "accidental."
