A 23-year-old man found dead in his Hampton, Virginia, home this week has been identified as Joshua Emmanuel Owusu-Koramoah, the brother of Browns linebacker and former Notre Dame star Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah. Hampton Police Division, which previously announced evidence of a fire inside the victim's residence, said Wednesday that authorities have upgraded the incident to investigate a possible homicide.

Joshua, who had been working as a science teacher at Hampton Christian High School, was supposed to meet a friend for breakfast the morning he was found deceased, according to Newport News' Daily Press. When he didn't return texts or calls, his friend went to his residence, only to find emergency medical personnel. Police and fire rescue officers responded to a call around 10 a.m. Tuesday, per the Hampton Police Division, and found Owusu-Koramoah, as well as evidence of a fire inside the home.

Born and raised in Hampton alongside Joshua, Jeremiah was a second-round pick of the Browns in 2021, starting 11 games at linebacker and entering 2022 as one of Cleveland's top young defensive players. He previously credited his brother, a former reserve linebacker at William & Mary, for his own football career. He is still expected to participate in the Browns' offseason program, which begins next week, per Cleveland.com, but the team could excuse the second-year linebacker.
