Browns to go with Brandon Weeden for Week 8 game vs. Chiefs

The Browns are sticking with second-year QB Brandon Weeden for Week 8, though a change could come soon, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

Browns coach Rob Chudzinski told the media today he would consider making a change at quarterback with former first-round pick Brandon Weeden struggling but at least for this week, the plan is to stick with him.

The Browns lost former starter Brian Hoyer for the season and backup Jason Campbell has appeared just briefly in one game this season though he does have considerable former playing experience. Cleveland's defense is keeping it in games but Weeden is having a very poor season and the offense hasn't been close to what it was with Hoyer under center.

The Browns have long suspected they might need to draft a quarterback high in 2014, and scouting and prep work for that has been in full swing, with it very likely they take a passer in the first round.
