Bruno Mars to play Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show
Bruno Mars was announced as the halftime show for Super Bowl XLVIII on Sunday.
It was first reported on Saturday that Bruno Mars was likely to be the halftime act for Super Bowl XLVIII in New York. That's now official, as the NFL confirmed the news on Sunday morning.
Mars is a 13-time Grammy nominee who's sold a ridiculous 45 million albums, including having his debut album go 39x platinum.
His No. 1 single, "Just the Way You Are" (above), went 12x platinum.
Whether or not you're a huge Mars fan is probably irrelevant -- he fits what the NFL wants to do with the halftime show, which is find high-quality, modern acts that will appeal to both young and old fanbases.
Mars, whose hit single "Locked Out of Heaven" has a bit of Sting-y Police sound to it, is exactly that.
