The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are getting their leading rusher back for the divisional round of the playoffs, as the team announced that Leonard Fournette had been activated off injured reserve, and would play vs. the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The Buccaneers are waiving running back Le'Veon Bell to make room for Fournette.
Fournette has been out since he injured his hamstring against the New Orleans Saints in Week 15. It was thought he would just miss the remainder of the regular season and return for the playoffs, but he was not healthy enough to be active for the Buccaneers' Super Wild Card Weekend date with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Fournette led the Buccaneers with 812 rushing yards and eight touchdowns this season. He also made an impact as a receiver, catching 69 passes for 454 yards and two touchdowns. This is a big development, as the Buccaneers have already ruled out running back Ronald Jones due to an ankle injury. Ke'shawn Vaughn was Tampa Bay's leading rusher last week, as he ran 17 times for 53 yards and a touchdown.
Fournette could be in line to lead the offense in touches this weekend, as the Buccaneers will be without Chris Godwin and Breshad Perriman at receiver, while Cyril Grayson is questionable to play with a hamstring injury.
