Calvin Johnson recovering 'nicely' from knee, finger surgeries
Calvin Johnson is recovering from both knee and finger surgeries and is doing well according to Lions GM Martin Mayhew.
Calvin Johnson didn't live up to the hefty hype of 2012's record-breaking year in 2013, although he still had a very good season. Maybe part of that was the injuries he dealt with. Those injuries required multiple offseason surgeries, and Johnson is now recovering well from those.
We'd heard that Johnson's doctors recommended offseason knee surgery and Lions GM Martin Mayhew, speaking at Jim Caldwell's introductory press conference, confirmed as much. Mayhew also said Johnson's recovering from surgery on his finger.

There's never been anyone in the NFL to not recover nicely from surgery right? Regardless, it's good to know that Johnson is doing well.
He was clearly hampered by his knee and ended up missing time. He "only" played in 14 games and "only" ended up with 1,492 yards for the season.
Given how banged up he was, it's a real testament to how insanely talented Megatron truly is. If he's 100 percent healthy heading into 2014, he could be in for another monster year. Having the surgeries now is definitely the smart play.
