CBS owns top-5 Nielsen-rated shows in 2013; Super Bowl delay No. 2
All five of the single-telecast shows from 2013 were NFL-related and all five of them were on CBS Sports. America sure likes its football.
You think America likes football? You probably do. But you probably don't know just how much America loves its pigskin: all five of the top-rated, single-telecast shows from 2013 were NFL-related.
And, all five of them, by the by, were on CBS.
Yes it helped that the mothership hosted the Super Bowl: No. 1, as ranked by Nielsen, was the game itself, No. 2 was the Super Bowl delay (you'll recall the lights went out in the Superdome), No. 3 was the Super Bowl postgame show and No. 4 was the Super Bowl Kickoff show.
The Super Bowl is very popular.
Rounding out the top 10 was ... more football! Well, almost. The Oscars finished No. 7 this year, behind the NFC Championship Game on FOX at No. 6, but ahead of the FOX NFC Wild Card game (No. 8) and the two AFC Wild Card games on CBS (Sunday and Saturday finished No. 9 and No. 10, respectively).
The lesson as always: football is king.
