The Eagles need some offense. Badly. And if they get it in Week 9 it will come via Nick Foles, named Wednesday by Chip Kelly the starter for Week 9.

Just a few days after pointing out that "quarterback instability" was a major issue for the Eagles right now, Kelly pointed out, via Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News, that Foles did "really well" in practice this week.

"Nick did really well ... Nick's going to be our starting quarterback this week, he'll take the reps with the 'ones' this week, and we'll get ready as a team offensively to prepare for Oakland," Kelly said.

Foles looked like the quarterback of Philly's present (and maybe future) just a few weeks ago when he stepped in for Michael Vick, finished off the Giants and promptly shredded the Buccaneers. Then he laid an absolute egg against the Cowboys before leaving with a concussion.

He's been cleared now, and with Michael Vick dealing with a(nother) hamstring injury, it was either Foles or Matt Barkley.

Given the way the third-string Barkley has played in relief this season, the choice seemed fairly obvious, and Kelly took the expected route.
