Cowboys lose star linebacker Sean Lee (hamstring) for 3-4 weeks

Cowboys star linebacker Sean Lee to miss 3-4 weeks with hamstring injury, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

The linebacker -- having an outstanding season and keeping an otherwise poor unit together -- was injured in Sunday night's loss in New Orleans, and the defense fell apart without him. The Cowboys also suffered mightily last season after he went down ,and now face the prospect of not having him at least for the rest of the month, if not longer.

Despite Dallas' woes, Lee was a midseason candidate for Defensive Player of the Year, making big plays consistently in the run and pass game. Now back at 5-5, and with the Eagles right with them and the Redskins and Giants still alive, the Cowboys face potential big problems down the stretch, with elite pass rusher DeMarcus Ware also battling injury woes.
