Darrelle Revis calls time in New York 'unbelievable' after trade
Darrelle Revis calls his time in New York 'unbelievable' after he's traded from the Jets to the Buccaneers.
Revis' time in New York wasn't without contention; he had a pair of holdouts (one prominently featured on HBO's Hard Knocks) but he was an outstanding player on the field and a fan favorite. The feeling was obviously mutual -- following the trade, Revis tweeted a statement telling fans his time in time in the Big Apple was "unbelievable."
I been sitting around for the last hour trying to figure out what to say to the Jet Nation & I came up with this. The six years I played for— Darrelle Revis (@Revis24) April 21, 2013
the New York Jets were unbelievable. I put my body on the line everyday & did everything could to help the team win. I experienced a lot &— Darrelle Revis (@Revis24) April 21, 2013
& learned a lot. The memories I had in New York I will keep dearly to my heart. I want to thank all the jets fans for making me feel welcome— Darrelle Revis (@Revis24) April 21, 2013
For as much of a circus as the Jets have become over the past two years, they certainly had some good memories with Revis around. The team made the AFC Championship Game in Rex Ryan's first two seasons and had a dominant defense thanks to Revis' presence on the roster.
I wouldn't bank on Jets fans cheering for him in Week 1 when the Bucs come to town, but I also wouldn't expect Jets fans to root against Revis in Tampa Bay. He's a fan favorite, and his statement showed he feels the same way, even if things ultimately didn't work out.
