DeMarcus Ware 'unlikely' to play vs. Texans

DeMarcus Ware's absence is expected to stretch another week.

The Broncos' veteran linebacker, on the mend after forearm surgery, said Tuesday that he's unlikely to play against the Texans on Monday Night Football.

Ware reaffirmed his goal is to be fully healthy for the stretch run.

Ware underwent a procedure on Sept. 20 to repair the fractured ulna he suffered in Denver's Week 2 win over the Colts. At the time, coach Gary Kubiak estimated the recovery timetable at four-to-five weeks.

Ware recently had a check-up on the appendage, which came back positive. He's just reached the four-week mark, so his return won't be too far off.

Shane Ray has started at outside linebacker for the Broncos, racking up four sacks opposite Von Miller, who leads the NFL with 7.5 takedowns.
