Derek Carr welcomes E.J. Manuel, Jelani Jenkins to Raiders

The Oakland Raiders officially signed two free agents on Monday, and quarterback Derek Carr was quick to welcome both of them to the team.

Shortly after the signings were announced, Carr tweeted at both quarterback E.J. Manuel and linebacker Jelani Jenkins.

Manuel is a former first-round draft pick who will compete with 2016 fourth-rounder Connor Cook for the backup role behind Carr. Jenkins is likely to replace Malcolm Smith (signed with san Francisco 49ers) as the starter on the weak side.

Both Manuel and Jenkins are excited to start their respective careers anew with the Raiders.

"[I'm] very excited and very proud to be a Raider now," Manuel said in a short video message to fans, hosted on the team's official website. "Looking forward to seeing you guys out there on Sundays. Gonna work my tail off and help this team get better, so let's go."

"[I'm] excited to be a part of such a great organization and great fan base and I'm looking forward to a great year of football," Jenkins said in his video message.

Manuel will come in handy if Carr goes down again next season, while Jenkins will probably be relied upon in a much larger capacity on defense.
