Derek Carr's words to live by go viral on Twitter
Oakland Raiders quarterback Derek Carr offered some words to live by on Twitter this week.
Derek Carr tweeted an inspiring message that went viral on Thursday.
Here is the 30-word message the Oakland Raiders quarterback shared to his quarter-of-a-million followers:
Saw that a 7 year old is collecting recyclables so he can pay for college.. has made 10k. Get off your tail and go work hard 4 what you want— Derek Carr (@derekcarrqb) February 9, 2017

Carr's tweet received well over 13,000 retweets and 34,000 likes in roughly 12 hours. The tweet had nearly 600 responses at the time of this publication.
The first part of Carr's tweet is in reference to this story about Ryan Hickman, a 7-year-old boy from Orange County, California, who started his own recycling business.
Oakland's 25-year-old quarterback knows a thing or two about working for something he wants. Carr entered the NFL as a second-round draft pick, and has quickly risen up the ranks to establish himself as one of the best players at his position.
Carr led seven fourth-quarter comebacks/game-winning drives and was named Clutch Performer of the Year in 2016. The Raiders have confirmed that re-signing him and edge defender Khalil Mack are the team's top priorities this offseason.
