Eagles' Avonte Maddox signs three-year extension reportedly worth $22.5 million
The Eagles have signed four players from their 2018 draft to extensions

The Philadelphia Eagles have locked up another key player from their 2018 draft, signing cornerback Avonte Maddox to a three-year extension, the team announced on Saturday. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the deal is worth $22.5 million and includes $13.3 million guaranteed.
The veteran cornerback joins three other members of the Eagles' five-player 2018 draft who have received extensions from the club: offensive tackle Jordan Mailata, defensive end Josh Sweat, and tight end Dallas Goedert. Goedert inked a four-year, $57 million extension on Friday. Sixth-round pick offensive tackle Matt Pryor was traded to the Colts over the summer.
The 125th overall pick in the 2018 draft, Maddox came to Philadelphia following a successful college career at the University of Pittsburgh. In 45 regular-season games with the Eagles, Maddox has logged 170 tackles, three interceptions, 21 passes defended and four forced fumbles. Through 10 games this season, Maddox has already set career-highs with 48 tackles and two forced fumbles. He also came down with an interception during the Eagles' Week 7 loss to the Raiders.
The Eagles' defense is currently 14th in the NFL in scoring, 13th in passing, 20th in rushing and 19th in both third-down and red-zone efficiency. The Eagles will face a Saints offense on Sunday that will be without Pro Bowl running back Alvin Kamara, who is missing time with a knee injury. Mark Ingram is prepared to carry the workload with Kamara inactive.
