Eye on Football Podcast: Manziel pro day, NFL owners, Vick vs. Sanchez
On the latest podcast, we talk about where Johnny Manziel's NFL future might lead him. The Browns seem like an obvious choice, and we can't imagine he gets by the Vikings at No. 8.
Johnny Manziel is a bona fide first-round talent. Of course, we knew that before a stellar pro-day performance Thursday, but the media will try to convince you that it's now a done deal thanks to the former Texas A&M quarterback lighting it up before NFL front-office execs, coaches and scouts during what amounted to a glorifed workout.
(It was such a serious affair that Manziel even wore shoulder pads and a helmet. In retrospect, maybe that's where Teddy Bridgewater went wrong. Or maybe we're making too big a deal of all this.)
In any event, on the latest Eye on Football Podcast, we talk about where Manziel's NFL future might lead him. The Browns seem like an obvious choice, and we can't imagine a scenario where he gets by the Vikings at No. 8.
(One thing we agree on: The Texans, who have the first-overall pick, should pass on a quarterback -- whether it's Manziel, Bridgewater or mock-draft favorite, Blake Bortles -- and take Jadeveon Clowney.)
We also discuss the NFL Owners Meetings, which took place earlier this week, and the rules changes that came out of it. Finally, we wonder if Mark Sanchez makes sense for, well, any team, let alone Chip Kelly's offense in Philadelphia. Put another way: The Eagles basically traded Michael Vick to the Jets for Sanchez. If you're swinging that deal, who would you want? We have yet to meet a person who prefers Sanchez.
